Light Engineers

Post » Sat Jul 17, 2010 4:42 am

Since you're going to be a light engineer, I'm certain that you will try and place your turret, not only high up, but also try to sneak past enemy lines and place a strategic turret there. However, say that you have successfully slipped behind a crowd of eight enemies and now you intend to place a turret that will provide both damage and distraction as you attempt to take down a lot of them. Unfortunately, the turret starts firing just as you place it, effectively giving away your position. My question is, will there be an option to tell the turret to 'Hold Fire', allowing the Light/Medium engineer to slip out of sight before the turret gives his position away?

From what I've read, I dont think so. It would be a great option though. especially if you set it somewhere and wait for the whole enemy team to get into its field of fire then UNLEASH the BEAST! lol
BUt I dont think so.

The faster it shoots the better IMO. What if you are in a situation the opposite you need it to defend against a horde of security coming your way.

Well of course, but I'm more concerned with the circumstances where you wouldn't want to be near your turret when it starts to shoot. I just think it would be nice to prevent that by pressing say.. the same arrow on the D-pad as you used to place the turret?

If you're a Light, you should be able to get out of anyone's line of sight pretty fast anyway.

Don't see this as a major problem, myself, but you're right, some kind of delay before firing, or a manual hold-fire function would be nice. Or once placed, you have to manually activate it, so you can set it somewhere, and hold fire until you're well out of reach.

I think the Engineer would be the last thing a team getting filled with lead from above would worry about. There are more pressing matters at hand when there's an automated minigun raining bullets on you.

Looking at the 720p footage, turrets are able to be destroyed by what looks like weapon fire and explosives (Like the robot escourt). Only a matter of seconds before that's taken care of if the engineer isn't around to keep it repaired.

Not much point in running away like that if you're going to slow the team down by a few seconds. Might as well make the turret worth the other team's time.

If you have an light operative follow you he can take control of the turret.

I think you're misinterpreting the Operative ability to hack enemy turrets.

Nope, there's a control turret ability as well.

There is a perk that allows you to control it, but it is high-level.

There is a perk that allows you to control it, but it is high-level Operative-only and I got Wraithed by a whole conversation about it.

Fixed that for you :ninja:
