Lighting Issues in ESO

Post » Mon Mar 03, 2014 1:37 pm

Let me start off by saying that I am playing on a 22.1" iMac using Bootcamp in Windows 7 with an ATI Radeon 4670. I could try the mac client, but I had limited HD space and assumed that the Windows performance would be better. Perhaps I was wrong.

I recently downloaded the ESO beta yesterday and have played a few hours. However, I have run into some serious lighting issues that have made progressing in the game very difficult:

The game is too dark. At night, I can barely see anything, making it hard to find characters/objects. In the day time, the world is bright enough to play (though not that bright), but shadows are incredibly dark. The bottoms of water bodies are also dark and I cannot see the bottom.

I have adjusted the gamma correction, but that seems to have no effect. It is almost as if there is no ambient atmospheric light and I can only see point light sources. Other games I play do not have this problem and I have had no monitor issues.

Any help or suggestions you have would be appreciated. If this is a legitimate bug, I'm not sure how to submit a ticket.

I run my monitor dark anyways it's always says it's right when games come with a test, teso is dark at night but not that dark, try to adjust through your grx card and monitor see if that makes a difference, for instance it's no darker than skyrim at night.

My monitor brightness is actually fairly high. Like I said, other programs and games are working just fine. I know for a fact that something is wrong, because I have compared my lighting to my friend's computer who was also playing ESO, and the difference is very noticeable.

I'm not sure how, otherwise I would have. I thought these forums were a place to discuss issues.

I'm trying to download the mac client to see if I have better luck, but by the time it finishes, the Beta will probably be over already.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried logging into those forums and it wouldn't let me create an account because it said my key is invalid (which is a lie because I was playing the game). I'm not sure why it doesn't just use the account with which I log into the game...
