Lights!

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 8:05 pm

i was thinking just now, while playing Fo3 i noticed that there are light switches on the walls that you can't mess with. and i understand that theres no electricity to keep them on, but in NV vagas is all lit up, well wouldnt be cool if in rooms you could turn on and off lights, that way you could change the setting a little bit. with out lights you could sneak better, and with them on you could see stuff better. its just a small detail that i thought was cool. :tops:

I guess that would be cool to mess with. Doesn't seem necessary to me and I don't think I'll be using it a lot (even though I like sneaky), but sure, why not.

It sure would be great for sneaking, but I suppose the NPCs would notice if you went around turning their lights off. :)

lights would be usefull, not that i would ever use them due to there many faults such as breaking and running out of energy.
i would prefer to have a glow-in-the-dark goblin to light my way, or even better, a pet glowing one!!!!! that would work just as well

I turn their lights off with a shot to the head. They don't notice.

Yeah, I see no reason why not. Obvious NPCs should react if they notice the lights going off, though. And they should only exist in a few locations, those who have access to electricity, although by the looks of it quite a few people will.

I would love to be able to shut lights off or the generators that power the lights or maybe be able to destroy the generators to keep them from turning the lights back on

I like this idea of using lights. In fallout tactics we can turn on and off lights. It gives more reason to have night vision perk that lets you see better in the dark. You turn the lights off and the people can't see, but you can :D.

As long as there is no dumb destroying the light source and the light still being on.

Or having to fix them and being told to go back for the bloody fuses.

There is no reason why there can not be active light switches in a room or cell. I think it could lend atmosphere to some places. It could also aid in the more nefarious activities that one may want to be involved with.

this is a great idea

using the switches can be a tactical choice for any assasin ( LIKE ME!!! )
and for the people who dont need to sneak around
sometimes having a firefight in the dark is a perfect way to brighten your day

I voted yes. I think being able to manipulate light switches and turn lights on and off would be great. Could also use it as a diversionary tactic by switching the lights off to make them wander around and you sneek past them.

The big thing I would like about that is if you could find the main switch you could kill the exterior lights to a club/casino.

I mean sure it wouldnt be needed but it would add more elements in. Could turn them off at night when you go to sleep if your into the roleplaying, could leave them off if your a "vampire-like" night person, could turn the lights off after youve murdered someone in a room so no one else would see the body and become alarmed, ect.

There is electricity in the FO3

Which is one thing I didnt get. You find out that there are still live power lines under the ground at that one relay station and the comment about how they built the power grid very well. But yet no street lights at the very least. I would expect street lights to stay on with some being burned out.

I know theres a mod for it but I have seen too many comments with people having problems after downloading so I wont do that, but I am greatful that New Vegas will have power and hopefully we can see street lights still working out in the middle of nowheres.

It would be awsome, but also every switch would have to be scripted, so it could take a really long time and alot of extra work, but might be worth it for the added awsomeness of that.

i think maybe in lone houses in the deserts it would be a great idea as it could freak people out and make NPC's run or scream but in casino's the butler or whatever would just turn them on and tell you to f**k off

Don't think there is really enough power to power all buildings in New Vegas. I think when you get close to mr.house it be cool if you could kill him and shut all lights off on the Strip, so that people go into a riot and the strip crumbles beneath your grasp!

ALL POWER IS MINE

Better yet....

Join the NCR, Discover a Nuclear Silo, Launch the missles at the strip.

ALL POWER IS MINE  :nuke:   :gun:

:bonk: To close to the blast
