So like...I've gained a huge bounty(Spoilers)

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:04 pm

You all know, when we acquire the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal, we always put it on to commit crimes. Well, I putted it on many times and have acquired a huge bounty with it. Things were going just fine, I took it off and the bounty was going away with it. Now...not so much. For whatever reason I have the Gray Fox Bounty(like 150,000 gold) even when I remove the cowl. Guards always run at me whenever I enter a city, lucky for me, I'm a master of illusion(or whatever school needed to have invisibility) so I have 100% Chameleon along with 100pts in Sneak. Guards can't detect me but I must remain invisible everywhere I go to. Is there a way to remove my bounty? Not only that, but I now have around 150 Infamy pts and much less fame pts(Gray Fox Infamy). What can I do?

What platform are you on? Have you tried paying the Doyen or simply going to jail? Did you happen to do the Sanguine quest with the Cowl equipped?

I sure tried to pay a Doyen but I currently don't possess 75,000 gold...in fact I only got 12,000 gold in my pocket, you understand why I can't exactly pay. I hadn't the cowl equipped when I did the quest that's for sure. Even if I did, I did this quest like a week ago and I removed/putted the cowl several times and I had no huge bounty when I wasn't the Gray Fox. I'm playing on the Xbox360 so no console for me. Maybe the only way is to acquire 75,000 gold? I shoulda listen, my mom always told me my wrongs would catch up to me some day.

Huh? I don't think I wanna do that honestly. I guess I'll have to remain invisible for the rest of the game. It took me too long to raise my skils. I think 100 gold equal a day in jail.

150,000/100=1,500 days in jail? My skills will decrease way too much and I spent a long time increasing them.

You don't need to be invisible for the whole game, just do your dungeon diving, save your gold, sell sell sell till you got enough to pay the bounty, kind of adds a bit of fun having to sneak past gaurds till you can pay off your bounty.
Also let this be a lesson to save, save often, save allot, and then save some more :D

I never use the duplication glitch, but in this case it seems like the easiest way...

Actually I just checked, they don't even give me the option to pay the gold, it's either go to jail or resist arrest.

In my previous games I did that a good few times(even in the current game I did that many times), what's the problem with this?

Duplication glitch ain't even an option, they don't want money. I'd also really like to get my fame back, I had like 100 fame pts now I only got 20 and 139 infamy pts. I understand I can do the Pilgrimage Quest, but it will make my fame go away and I won't be able to get the powers of certain heaven/doom stones.

When your bounty exceeds 5000, the guards no longer give you the option of paying the fine. The only ones who'll take payment at that point are the TG doyens.

The Pilgrimage quest doesn't reduce your fame - it only sets infamy back to 0. Also, the Doomstones take your combined fame and infamy into account. You're eligible to get all of their powers right now.

Sorry, typo, I meant fame. So, there is really nothing else to do it seems. Wow, I didn't know the game had such glitches.

What you experienced was a rare glitch normally caused by the Grey Cowl being forcibly removed during a quest, like Sanguine's.

That's what I was starting to think. When I think about it, I may have had it forcibly removed from my inventory. Is there a way to fix this bug?

Only on PC. On console, your only recourse is to load an earlier save.

I use the Duplication Glitch more for fun than anything else. I guess my biggest 'cheat' is duplicating Varla Stones so that I don't need to lug around all of those soul gems!

Hold on i thought the only option when they catch you as the Gray Fox is resist arrest. Personally I have a 316000 bounty on the Gray Cowl and guards i can take it off infront of guards and i only sometimes get an assault bounty.

Ok here's a tip to get cash fast: clone yourself : requires scamp for 35 seconds paralyze for 15 seconds and deflect damage or spell something like that 95% for 15 second and scull of corruption.
Next is use the duplication glitch and sell everything duplicated
Finally there is a man in talos plaza where you go to the street on right (when entering from stables) and then first house on left pickpocket him (his gold never runs out) and bribe him as much as u can to give him more gold and pickpocket him to no end or paralyze him and search him while paralyzed and keep taking gold

I hope this helped good luck
