I Like hardcoe Mode

Post » Sun Jun 17, 2012 12:16 pm

So, originally I thought that I'd hate hardcoe mode. That it wouldn't be my thing, since I'm the type who runs around with characters who forget to sleep. Yeah what ends up happening is I try to RPG it out, sleep, eat, drink. But it ends up never working for me. But something in the way New Vegas implements it I find myself planning out my trips. I find myself scavenging for food and it makes what I tried to pretend to do, something I actually do. It also makes things rather difficult. I have enjoyed my time so far playing hardcoe mode.

Once you go hardcoe, you don't go back. I find it difficult to play in the normal setting of the game. Just the fact that stimpacks don't heal you instantly makes the game that much more difficult. Now I have to plan out fights instead of just jumping into a group of deathclaws and spam my stimpack hotkey.

Also the weight of ammo makes the game that much more realistic. I actually plan out what weapons I will use instead of carrying them all with me.

Same here. But I still spam the Stimpak button. But this time for extra health regenaration. lol. Sorry it's still in me, the way Bioshock is still in me.

Yeah, playing on hardcoe mode has chiseled me out of wood. It would almost feel like cheating if I played on anything lower now.

So I wanted to play a Non-hardcoe game. I can't do it. All the hardcoe elements just feel right.

Yep, once u go go hardcoe u dont go back. Just like bumping it up to master, cant play the game unless on master and hardcoe.

Fonv is an actual rpg game and hardcoe mode is what I call rp mode. Just adds a whole new level of rp for me and makes it so much easier to rp. only thing I wish they added in hardcoe mode was animations for drinking, stimpacking, eating, and drugging. I know they didnt have the time to do it but would be awesome everytime u used a stimpack, it would go into an animation of injecting it in ya and u couldnt use weapons while doing it. Would have made running for cover essential for both npcs and player lol. Alas I know they had time restraints lol.

I can play on hardcoe and I can go back. Does this mean I am some sort of super human?

Just a small tip, spamming stims won't make you heal faster per second. It just extends the time that they continue healing. Instead what you wanna do is use a stim AND something else, like Nuka Cola.

I'm doing my first hardcoe playthrough, I'm about 17 hours into it and I'm loving it. The only issue is that I can't find any people that sell water atm. That's getting risky because i'm down to 1 water. I've been constantly going to the legion's fort to get a drink in the lake.

That's what I mean. I do that as well. Just Nuka Cola is helping your health so in essence it's stimulation.

Yeah. I'm still pretty much new to the game, so I keep going back to drink from Goodsprings faucets.

Spoiler

There are a couple of vendors north of the 188 along the road. One of them sells just water.

When I started F: NV, I chose hardcoe. I only play hardcoe. I have no intention of playing non-hardcoe. Even when I'm playing F3 or Skyrim, I make my character eat and sleep now and then. Just because they would have to in real life. I wish Skyrim and F3 had a hardcoe mode, at least so that you had to eat and drink to survive. Matter of fact, I wish hardcoe was nore hardcoe: no more healing pulverized body parts by sleeping, that kind of thing.

hardcoe is awesome. All though, I thought the difficulty had been changed when I played hardcoe because I was kicking gecko butt. But then some guy with a gun tried to kill me. :( lol

Geckos I am their master

Dudes with guns, run

I find myself less willing to fight now that I am in hardcoe mode. I accidentally walked into a building with people just sitting on chairs. They all get up and start shooting at me. Looting in abandoned buildings just ain't in the cards. Oh boy, that was exciting.

I just did some quests at the White Gloves Society and I found about 10 bottles of water on a shelf in the kitchen. I still can't find the trader that Lobotomite was talking about.

gulp and grub, one merchant sells food and the other water, in both pure and dirty versions. it's past the 188 on the road to vegas and before the outside of vegas.
