If Lydia had as much character development as Serana then even more people would love Lydia.

Serana Is a old bat could not even pay me to kiss her yuck really she the same as another followers in the game after dawnguard imo.

Lyadia is only following you because it's her job. She is a normal warrior that was assigned to you by jarl bulgraf. She also walks like a man.

I find Lydia kind of annoying with the 'burdens' thing, hell I actually forget she's in my house when I walk in.
Serana is more interesting but that usually stops after the quest.
