Yeah I can just imagine...
"You aren't my dad!"
"Actually,boy, I AM YOU'RE DADDY!"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
"Oh don't be such a baby-boo!"
"You're the worst dad in the world!"
"More like the most powerful dad in the wasteland! HAHA!"

Shaun is the game's villain and you will have to chose too kill him to save the wasteland or he kills you...game over.
Shaun survives if the plot dictates that he does.
Reality be damned.
We'll finally know how James felt when we nuked Megaton.
"I still love you, and you'll always be my son, but I'm very disappointed in you. We'll talk about this later."
"Shaun, I still love you, and you'll always be my son, but I'm very disappointed in you. We'll talk about this later. I have about 200 hours of side quests to do, but we WILL have a conversation about this! Maybe. Unless I get too into decorating and designing my 12 houses. You just think about what you've done! I'll be back. Probably."
I believe the baby survives too, but this point has been raised so many times and I've always felt like it could be just a touch of detail. Like someone else said, maybe just basic skin and hair colour so people don't say hey that's stupid the baby's appearance doesn't make sense.
Shaun being the villain wouldn't surprise me. At the end of E3 we see two things happen. We see the destruction of the BOS airship and/or the laser beam coming out of the sky destroying a big chunk of Boston. I think these are your 2 choices you will have. If you look at Van Buren, Dr Presper was awaken from cryosleep, becomes the villain and wants to destroy the world and start a fresh new world. At the beginning of E3 when you are in the baby room and your wife tells you,"spin the mobile, he loves that"..that is a clue to something. That freaking rocket mobile is a clue to something!
As if our Mr. House\Shaun has built orbital cannon and gone to inner spess space because of deathclaws skulkin' around Earth. Now it starts to remind me Mass effect.
I'm thinking it might be similar to BOMB-1 and 2 from Van Buren. Fallout 3 and FONV(obviously) have used ideas from Van Buren and I expect this to continue in 4
The fandom seems to have already made up its mind. I'm mostly annoyed cuz you can just tell they're gonna force you to care. Families, man. Such a drag.
This could very well be the case, but a seemingly minor detail like that seems to stand out - especially when the man himself makes a footnote of it. I didn't follow Fallout 3's development at all, but did the devs ever state that James would change skin color based on the babies skin color?
It's fun to think about when you couple cryo-stasis into the mix.
I'm hoping that the family isn't a 'this is your family, they are dead now' sort of deal since like the family member who died in DA2 who I struggled to feel anything for (at least until I'd played the game twice and spent time with both siblings), a character I just met dying means very little to me. Fallout 3 at least had a fairly large prologue with your dad, even if I generally forgot about him until I stumbled across the main storyline in my travels at least the effort was made to establish a history with the character.
Well, honestly i find it kinda boring and clichè , personally i would enjoy it a lot more if he was a lone wanderer, just like you, and you would be able to hire him as a companion and after hours of travelling together he could open up to the player, and talk about how his mother took him from the vault thinking that the father had died, then the p.c could ask questions and finally realize that the companion he was with all that time was his own son. Maybe the son could even say where he buried his mother when she passed away, allowing the player to search the grave to find his wife's ring and a farewell letter to his son.........dammit im rambling sorry
P.S: sorry for the bad english, not my first language
I have a theory that 1 of the 8 remaining companions is either the wife (or husband) OR the son.
I'm hoping everyone is dead, just like Todd said. I have no interest in a family drama.
So far only one Fallout title has had family drama, but you are right, that was the Beth installment of Fallout =/
NaaaoooPE!
1. Find a water chip to save your surrogate vault family.
2. Find a GECK to save your nomad tribal family.
3. Find your daddy.
4. You guessed it.
Lol, yeah if you count extended "family", sure. Can't wait for another episode of Days of Our Lives!
they was all turned into androids we will be an android to but dont find out till the end
Spoiler: EVERYBODY in the wasteland is an android. You are the only true human left! You are ... the Sole Survivor! It's like Westworld, but with fallout.
