me no likes conjuration

Post » Sat Nov 06, 2010 8:55 am

playing with conjuration in Oblivion feel like a level 1 Necromancer going straight to face Diablo himself. Seriously, the limitation they put on this school of spell makes it no fun.

1. summoned creature has time limit. I hate time limits. I want my thing to stick around forever until they get killed.
2. 1 creature at a time? might make sense for very strong summonlings, but what's the point of summoning just one rat? at least we need a pack of it.
3. enemy's summonlings are way too strong. and they like to summon atronachs all the time. I'm sick of it

Be nice if you made this related to SKYRIM, if not go to the Oblivion section and place your concern....

It was very stupid in ob as many summons didnt even last longer enough to actualy DO anything.

Id rather the summons be balanced for lasting till they die and be able to summon more of them as I level my skill and get perks/weapon summons control items.. blah blah blah.

About the only summons I used in ob were skeletons.

you can summon more than one creature at a time, if you summon some type of skeleton, then that skeleton would summon another one

Too much correcting to make my own opinions.

Morrowind was the same way as Oblivion and I like it the way it is.

Eh, no. I had spells to summon 6 allies at a time.

how is it not related to skyrim? I'm whining about oblivion so they can improve in skyrim.

If you have the Atronach Altar from the Frostcrag DLC, you can summon permanent companions in Oblivion.

I love Conjuration when it's at a high enough level. Happiness is siccing your Dremora onto a wandering monster and watching the carnage. Then you soultrap your summons with Azura's Star.

Interesting idea.

What if having something summoned put a constant drain on your magicka, and the more you have summoned, the faster the drain. The more magicka you have, the longer your summon will last, or you can keep your summon going by quaffing potions to maintain your magic level.

That's too bad, clannfears were the best summons in the game. Their aggressiveness made sure they kept an enemy busy getting staggered for the duration, if not killed them outright. Always got my magicka's worth with them.

Are you joking? Conjeration is very overpowered in Oblivion, you can go and get Deadroth straight away, which pwns everything you come accross for ages. You can always get a summon thats a tier ahead of your level....I stopped using it because the game was so easy with it. All you had to do was stand there, block and deadroth took care of everything

Yes good idea; of course you could have some negative effect for downing so much magicka juice. Also the drain depends on the summon so low lvl summons would be easy to get multi's but a demora lord x2...AINT HAPPENIN, unless your character is god.

So basically if your not looking and you have a daedroth out BLAM there goes all your magicka; also that would mean low lvls PC's could summon high lvl mobs but they would only last for a few seconds OR....OR...OR become violent and want to kill u.

Agree with the OP. I feel like conjuration could be a more robust school of magic, and there should be sustained spells for all schools. Slightly less effective but toggleable versions of summons, shield, etc. I don't have a problem with killing enemies' summons, but I like the idea of summons lasting til they're killed.

In Morrowind, you could enchant a ring with a constant Summon Clanfear (at most). You put on the ring and it's summoned. If it dies, just reequip the ring again and it's resummoned... I miss Donty... :D
