limb removal and prosthetic limbs

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 4:40 pm

I was thinking
why can't we loose limbs and live. I understand if you loose a limb right on the shoulder it will die really quick but if its lost at the elbow it would take a while for blood to drain. SO how would it be if we could loose a half a limb (not legs just arms).
If you loose it you can go buy a new arm prosthetic, mechanized ,or cloned arm.
Prosthetic are the weakest and dont allow guns but are the cheapest.
Mechanized is the most durable but can jam while shooting non automatic guns.
Cloned are the most expansive arm but work normal and give a slight boost to fully charged melee attacks.

this is just a simple idea but would make since wouldn't you agree.

this would only happen if you settings are on hard.
prosthetic limbs are introduced early in the game

It's pretty cool. However I fear if you do not have access to a prosthetic limb manufacturer early on it could become VERY annoying.

I'm not sure....... as fattoler said, might be annoying when losing limbs early on and I bet robotic limbs aren't cheap either. And I don't want to gradually turn myself into a cyborg.

But I'd like if you could cut limbs off of your enemies, and they'd live... for a little while at least.

Yes, it would be cool to see a ghoul dragging itself along the ground trying to bite your legs off, or even a Enclave Trooper in black armour....

Idk, I think if this does happen it schould be incrediably for you to lose an arm. And the arm replacement should never break again and there should be no disadavantages rather perks to the new arms. /Also it should be part of a quest. Where you get gravley wounded and you can chose to heal it your self( if your med skill is high enough) or to get a robotic arm.

Perhaps instead of that, we could find a Pre-War knowledged scientist who could give us prosthetic limbs with capabilities. Something that turns us into a cyborg in whatever parts we paid to have put on. That way if I dont want to look like a cybprg, I wont have to.

You could make detachable limbs optional like they do for hardcoe mode, but also be able to get bionic arms from a surgeon for stat improvements. Or even make taking the option to have detachable limbs be rewarded by getting upgrades because of the extra challenge.

It seems like a good idea, if only I can get a punch at 'em.

I wouldn't think prosthetic limbs would match Fallout, I mean mechanized limbs.

They didn't have those until recently I believe.

It would be nice to cut someones arm off and watch them run away.

Losing an arm in combat with just regular guns isn't as realistic as you think. A regular 5.56mm bullet(the ones that an M16 fires)can't really rip off a limb other than a finger or toe unless shot at in a very precise manner. Even the 7.52mm(the ones that an AK-47 fires)isn't as powerful as you think in arm ripping. Correct me if I'm wrong though. In order for a gun(other than a shotgun) to rip off an arm, lots of fire has to be put on that area. That's why a mini-gun CAN rip off limbs. But in the matter of explosives...

I think that with enough gunfire to a crippled body part, an arm or leg can be "disabled", which is like crippled but you can't fire 2 handed guns without a somewhat expensive treatment where the disabled arm is. If both arms are disabled, you can't fight at all but you can run. If a leg is disabled, you can't run, only walk. If both legs are disabled, you can only hobble around very slowly.

But losing a body part? If so, in gunfire standards, only shotgun rounds fired at point blank range or weapons that does even more damage to the disabled body part. Then you pay lots of money for the arm reattachment. Personally, I want it so that you can just buy one normally like an implant.

Something I always thought was funny and sort of disappointing was the Cyborg Perk in F3 (Don't know if it was in the first two).
You're walking along, killing stuff. You level and POOF you're a cyborg.
You'd think they would have at least put in a lab you had to visit to get the work done. As it is, it's like you found a do it yourself kit somewhere.

Edit: Maybe the same place you get the adamantium limbs?
