Limited Edition Retail and Rank 5 Boost (Bypass?)

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 8:24 pm

Hi all,

Played Crysis 1 back when, dug the Crysis 2 demo on 360 and plan on picking it up either Tuesday, or sometime where it is most likely that the limited editions will still be in stores. (I don't mind if I get that edition or not.)

However, if I get the limited edition, I'd almost kind of like to still start from rank 1. Does anyone know if there will be a way to bypass the rank 5 XP boost if you get the limited edition? I like working from the start and seeing what I have unlocked piece by piece, and its not like it takes very long to reach rank 5 anyway.

If not oh well, I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to bypass the XP boost if you get the limited edition.

Thanks!

Just don't use the voucher that's been included, except if you want the dogtag en weaponcamo.

The limited edition comes with a code to unlockables. Maybe you could level up to 5 and then activate the code to grab the platinum dog tag and the digital camo?

I don't know why you would want to. You won't have any freedom when you start the game. All you can use is the preset classes until you reach level 5. Thus it's very boring at the start. You could just play the game without using the key then once you reach level 5 you could enter it.

Nice! I had no idea it was possible, thought the game was tagged as the limited edition via the cdkey alone.

I feel the same way as the OP, didn't want to get that heads start. For me, it's because I'll actually enjoy leveling up those 5 levels and experimenting the preset classes one by one, like a complete newcomer to the game, even though I played the demo. Glad to know we have that option. :)

EDIT: I thought OP was talking about the PC, is that code only for the consoles? Does the PC also use that system, or is it really tagged by the cdkey as with all the other games?

I just watched an unboxing of the Nano Edition for PS3 and inside the game case had voucher for the limited edition stuff. I guess we will have to see if that is the same for the PC.

Yeah, I am referring to the Xbox 360 version. I do hope that the unlocks are from a key-code or codes, seperate to the game disc. I know many games use the method of putting a little sheet of paper with codes on it. However, some games like Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (another EA title), had weapon unlocks available right from the get-go as part of coding in the game.

I guess we'll see. I don't know if any EA or Crysis staff members view the forums, but I guess its only one day and someone will find out soon enough. If it is a key code, that idea of waiting until you reach rank 5 to use the code sounds like a pretty good idea!

EDIT: Thanks AVP for the unboxing tip. Good to know!!

The X360 uses this method also. Just search for X360 unboxes and you ll see.
