I want to know how much damage I am doing with each swing

I want to know how many charges are in my weapons (exactly)

You can see how much damage you do with each swing just watch the enemies red bar go down, I don't see what the difference is

I hate games with numbers floating about everyone's heads. But for those who do like it, it should be a toggle.

I don't care for it, but it should be a toggle like Borderlands was.

I want to know how many charges are in my weapons (exactly)

I would be happy if, when enchanting a weapon, it didn't glitch all of the time and give me a totally bogus charge count.
Fire damage 10pts says the weapon has 10 charges.
Fire damage 20pts? It says 20 charges.

When tested, not a single one of the numbers displayed has ever been accurate, not once.

Remember when hearts and half/hearts were enough?

I prefer bars but numbers should be available as a toggle for those who want them.

I don't recall any Elder Scrolls game using number displays to show damage and so on.

This isn't some generic JRPG.

I imagine the numbers over the head is like a cup of warm tea for the PC gamer?
It can prolly be modded in for all the MMO junkies out there

On a side note:
I cant helo but think of zero punctuation
When he talks about WOW and is like
"u keep getting better numbers until ur numbers are the best numbers in the land and everyone stops to praise your numbers as the best numbers in wow" lol

There should only be one indication of damage.
Do you have the mushroom, or are you a midget?

You misunderstand, the number doesn't represent the number of charges, but the number of damage it does. So it deals 20 points of damage, per hit. The number of charges, to my understanding, is dependent on the current skill level of the enchantment + weapon.

You misunderstand me.
When selecting a type of enchantment (First click), it goes to a 'Magnitude' selection.
At the right side of the charges bar, there is a number telling you the # of charges, below this is a box telling you the effect (20 fire dmg).
Below that is a slider bar allowing you to change the magnitude.

Skyrim was partly designed to gear towards the fanbase wishes since Morrowind and Oblivion,to some degree at least.
One of the major topics in OB was Immersion.
Now,in Skyrim the developers did a great job in making the game as immersive as possible, removing all clutter from the HUD that breaks the immersion into the game like those counters and timers thats simply didnt fit in.

And now people start complaining they WANT sliders and timers to know precisely how long something lasts, and how much they do.

Sigh...seriously?

If i go to a whiner's house and start stabbing them with a dull butter knife, you think there are numbers magically appearing above my head to let me know how many times i still gotta stab them till they finally shut the hell up?

If you're that obsessed with numbers,go back to playing World of Warcraft.
They get high on numbers and counters there.

Console players can't read, that's why they don't have a PC. This game was designed for console players, ergo no numbers. :) Also explains why everything in game is voiced and there's no details you need in journal, everything is an icon on the screen.

Urgh. Why do you need to know numbers? How is it insufficient just because you don't know exactly how much damage a weapon is doing and exactly how many health points you have? Some people are too math-oriented with this stuff. Honestly I thought I would find the excessive role-players more annoying - "Why is there nowhere to go to the bathroom? I always have my character eat three meals a day and sleep for eight, and it's OMG ROONING MAH IMMERSION that there's nowhere for my character to go take a crap!" But frankly, it's the calculator-brains that aren't there to play the game, they're there to play the numbers.

This relates to another thread complaining about the bad guys getting to do executions too - it's called luck! Yes, sometimes a heavy, sharp, nasty-pointy steel killing device might actually kill you in one good shot! Yes, it can be annoying, but given that the bad guys don't do this at all often, just reload your last save!

I prefer bars. Uncertainty is more interesting than knowing everything exactly. Do you know how much damage in numbers your punches do in real life? Do you know in numbers when exactly a flashlight runs out of battery?

Since when the [censored] did any ES game have numbers on screen? And what does that have to do with console gaming? Really? Are you sure this is your type of game? I hate nostalgia whiners, but this is seriously weird...

Why would it matter if you had 22 or 23 uses. What possible real help would knowing the exact number have?

Got no problems with computer players (in fact I'd love a computer to play on), but it's like anything else in the world. If you're a dike, people will find a reason to make fun of you.

Blahblahblah Im better because I spend my money on a computer instead of new clothes. Shut up, and go back to playing skyrim in a pile of potatochip bags and V cans that are cluttering up your room. Or even better, switch your computer off (it probably needs it after 13ish straight days of running skyrim) and clean your room. Call your friends. Do something other than being a geeky PC elitest.

Meh if I get banned I guess it'll give my fiance one less reason to make fun of me. Whenever she sees me play skyrim its like '[censored] you're a geek sometimes'. Imagine if she saw me on the forums!!! Lucky I can win in a fight

nice try.
morrowind and oblivion gave you exact numbers for each spell effect, not 'enemies on fire take extra damage' or 'dual casting increases damage' or even : '... increases the POWER...' seriously? this is what you like to base your choices on ?
if we do not complain now the next bethesda game will have descriptions like:

'does quite a lot of 'POW!' if cast on enemies ' , ' your character recieves an OKAY damage bonus for some time' and probably '[...] well, it has some drawbacks but better find out for yourself '
