[RELz] Lings Coiffure for Fallout: New Vegas

Post » Wed Aug 26, 2009 8:14 am

Thanks to the permission of EARACHE42, Anthony Lings Coiffure comes to New Vegas

http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35352

Just because the world has had a bad hair day doesn’t mean you have to!

Lings Coiffure is a cosmic expansion and plug-in upgrade for Yoshikinakota's venerable HairPack. Whether you want to overhaul the wasteland or just have more options for your character at the gene projector, Lings Coiffure has what you need.

Lings Coiffure does not include a sample NPC file.

Features:

Player Character Creation:
  • Raiders and Ghouls now playable with correct age-chains and available presets.
  • 130 new Character Presets, including all of http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8943 outstanding Presets.
  • All Presets given eyelashes with extended options for female characters.
  • Full selection of hair and eyes for all races.

For Modders:
  • The most comprehensive collection of hair styles available on Nexus.
  • Fully customizable eyelashes for Most NPCs (middle ages). 22 female and 9 male eyelash options.
  • Unique Female lashes for each of the Raider races.
  • Balanced collection of eyes using best of breed textures to enhance variety.

Convenience Features:
  • 99% of the resources conveniently packaged in BSAs. Loose files are only used where necessary (eyes & headparts).

Fully Integrated Resources:

Head and Lashes:
  • http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6363

Lings employs a unique implementation for eyelashes. Unlike other cosmetic mods that give all NPCs default lashes, Lings allows for much greater flexibility:
  • The very young and very old are given lashes by default.
  • All raiders races have default lashes, with a unique style for the women of each race.
  • For the two advlt ages, you can select lashes as head parts customized for NPCs, with 21 varieties for women, 9 for men. Drag and drop simplicity.

Eyes:

  • http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3846

Yoshikinakota's eyes have been resorted to eliminate redundancy and open up all eyes to both men and women. Additional eye colors were added selected for realism and game enhancement. 2 novelty eye colors added for specific usage. An alternate selection of high quality Smalleyes is also included for those who prefer a less anime look. This is a set built with of components of Sparkling Eyes, detailed eyes, and realdetailedeyes - carefully combined for a selection of 18 colors (plus original vanilla raider eyes). These take advantage of normal mapping by copasetic for more depth and are equivalent in size to the vanilla male eyes. This is a boatload of eye options!

Ling's eye selection is chosen to stay within the realm of plausible.

Hairs:

  • http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6982
  • http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=749
  • http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8205
  • http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4607
  • http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6391
  • http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8777
  • http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6694
  • http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3043
  • http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8097
  • http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14194
  • http://http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14570

Female-only hairs opened up for males where they don't clip or just look beyond ridiculous. All hairs added to all races (except OldAged and Children). Adds two new children's hair from Final Fantasy.

Installation:

How do I install Lings Coiffure?

You must download Lings Coiffure v4-4a full fomod at http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8942

Open the fomod with an archive program of your choice such as 7zip.

Copy the BSA, texture folder, and mesh folder only to Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas\Data

Copy the .esm file from Anthony Lings Coiffure - Hair Eyes Lashes for FONV to Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas\Data

In the launcher, select lings.esm in the data files.

Play.

Lings.esm
Lings.bsa
\meshes\characters\head
\textures\characters\eyes
Lings Coiffure credits.txt

The two files and two directory in green must be installed to your fallout new vegas\data directory (same as every other mod you've ever installed).
Please familiarize yourself with file manager and 7zip if you are not already.

What is the Load Order for Lings Coiffure?
Lings.ESM should be installed high on your load list, preferably immediately after FalloutNV.esm or DLC/preorder content.
    [X] Fallout3.esm
[X] ClassicPack.esm (or other preorder packs)
    [X] Lings.esm
    [X] other esms

What about other cosmetic mods?
What if I'm getting messed up hairs?

This mod is NOT compatible with any existing cosmetic mod ESMs. These must be disabled for Ling's to work. Remember, if you load a mod requiring a cosmetic mod, Fallout New Vegas will load the master even if disabled.

Advanced Notes:

Lings has almost all the needed resources in the bsa. Only the eye textures and head meshes are included as loose files. You can delete the contents of the following directories if you have them. NOTE: Don't remove any subdirectores if you have them!

Data\Meshes\Character\eyelashes
Data\Meshes\Character\hair
Data\Textures\Character\eyelashes
Data\Textures\Character\hair
Data\Textures\Character\mouth

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

26OCT10

Optional file uploaded to solve hair/headgear clipping issues. Until the meshes are fixed you may appear bald with custom hair while wearing a hat.

Some of the eyes can cause a crash when used with the ghoul race and I am working on that as well. Workaround: Choose a stock hairstyle, choose your eyes, then choose a custom hairstyle.

Update 1.0a

Kendo2's facial presets removed.

So there's basically no modification? It's just adding to the preset creation in NV?

No, there is a ton of custom hair, eyelashes, opening up of the other races, and the presets.

Small update. I was unaware until recently informed that Kendo2 refused permission for any of his work whether in whole or part of other mods to be ported to Fallout: New Vegas. Therefore, version 1.0a has been uploaded with his facial presets removed and the original file deleted.

I'd love to, if you'd switch the link to the NV version ... ;)

Sorry, something odd is going on. My file just disappeared from NV nexus. Looking into it as that file does not work with New Vegas.

EDIT: Crossed wires, sorting it out.

It was ready, however there were some wires crossed between myself and the Nexus staff, working on sorting that out now.

Amazing, thank you so much!

Small headsup though : I already had the popular (on nexus anyways) "Rikais Beauty Pack" installed, which caused alot of additions from Lings not to show up at all.
Stuff like hair models, presets, the whole caucasian raider theme etc etc.
Works like a charme once you turn off the Beauty pack :)

Amazing work, and thank you.

That would be Ling's Pretty things but you must realize, that edits the npcs in FO3 directly and since they don't exist in New Vegas.....

I might be tempted to create a New Vegas edition later but I want to play some more first LOL.

As I recall, there were some issues with ported hairmodels not aligning properly in Fallout New Vegas. Did you check these hairmodels in that they sit on the character's head properly and also behave normally when the character wants to wear a hat/bandana/etc? I believe Rikai's mod was also having such issues :)

I have hidden the mod for now. I have to work on some odd issues cropping up with, as you guessed it, hair clipping through head gear.

They are sitting on the head properly, they just have issues with clipping through head gear. Time to pull out nifskope.

I'm pulling out so much of my own hair I could be a stunt stand-in for a ghoul :P

Thank god, I figured it out while I still have some hair left. This will not be a one day fix, maybe 2-3 days but I found out what the issue was.

One of the issues is that a lot of the head gear uses the hair and hat locations. But there are many pieces that do not use the hair position thereby making custom hair stick through. The other issue is related to a problem I have to work out in nifskope.

10/25/2010 - 10:47PM Pacific Time.

I am re-enabling this mod for now. Some of you may have crashes while playing this game and some headgear is not compatible due to the wrong flags being on them. I am currently rebuilding a brand new esm file and will be releasing a separate patch for the mislabeled headgear. Some of the eyes can cause a crash when used with the ghoul race and I am working on that as well.

Hey there ;)

Also sent this message through the Nexus Forums, but I figured I'd best post it here as well.

Just a small heads up, but I've downloaded your mod to alter my appearance with Showracemenu. All the hairs (at least the 30 or so I tested) can be selected just fine; but when I try to select a set of eyes my game crashes instantly. I've tried it with 4 random eyes and each caused a crash.

Just thought I'd pass it along :)
