Known bugs

Android
  • Resource bars do not decrease, resources can be gained and will be added but the bars will never decrease. This happens when you try to do the glitch time going forward your phone time settings and back again. There is no fix at the moment.[verification needed]

  • The first tutorial that has you building the power plant. After that it tells you to select a dweller to assign to the power plant and the dweller cannot be selected. [verification needed]

  • 3rd Expansion of rooms not joining together - when the player deletes a room to create space for a room expansion, room expansion won't register and a single room will be built.[verification needed]

  • All dwellers have blacked out faces.[verification needed]

  • Sent out an explorer for less than an hour, he now has 20 items, and is going to take several thousand hours to return.[verification needed]

  • During raider attack if the game crashes, upon reloading the vault is still in "under attack" mode but there is nothing to attack, raiders are already gone. Resources no longer produce, nothing progresses. The room that was being raided still has dwellers with HP bars ready to fight, but nothing to fight. All other rooms look like they are operating normally but do not produce any resources.[verification needed]

  • When in loading screen after choosing vault number, the game will crash and sends back to phone home screen.[verification needed]

  • Occasionally when sending dwellers exploring, they will be able to explore forever without any events or without gathering anything.[verification needed]

  • Constant crashes when opening objectives screen. Game restart does not fix the problem.[verified]

  • Game crashes on "Please stand by" screen if the cellphone shut down while playing previously.[verified]
    • The only known fix currently is to completely reinstall Fallout Shelter, as the crash destroys any existing saves.


  • When assigning Vault Dwellers to a new room or when two couples go to have a baby at the same time (overlapping themselves), occasionally they will become invisible and unable to be selected. To fix this close down the app completely.[verification needed]

  • Radroaches become invincible killing all Vault Dwellers in active room, Suggested fix is to move Vault Dwellers to a new room and wait for rad roaches to move into new room. Closing the application and rebooting phone does not fix this bug[verification needed]

  • If your phone's batteries run out after opening a lunchbox and unlocking the cards, the cards will disappear once your game has restarted.[verification needed]

  • When exploring the wastes, sometimes your dwellers will report finding caches or refrigerators, but when they open them, no bonus item is granted.[verification needed]

  • Undraggable Pregnant - When attempting to move a newly pregnant dweller back to her job she sometimes becomes selectable but undraggable. It seems only a restart fixes this.[verified]

  • In a radroach incidents, sometimes the workers will animate as running around uselessly or continuing their work task instead of assisting with exterminating the radroaches if they are unarmed.[verification needed]

  • XP earned while your vault dwellers are exploring the wastes doesn't seem to increase their level.[verification needed]

  • Stimpaks can not be applied to dwellers.[verification needed]

  • Invisible Corpse - When reviving dwellers there's a chance that an invisible corpse will remain and upset anyone working there. The only known ways to fix this so far is to delete the room and rebuild it or have some other dweller die in the same room and deal with the corpse.[verification needed]

  • Attacked / dead dwellers - it seems that there is a bug during raider attacks when dwellers from other rooms taking damage although raiders are not there.[v

Is it worth Bethesda's time to fix a bug cause by people TRYING to glitch the game on purpose?





Are you sure it's not that you haven't updated the new small room to be the same upgraded level as the two that are already there? If not, it remains the one room size. If you upgrade it it will then become three.





I was under the impression return time was half the travel time... and had nothing to do with carried items? This one I have no idea to be honest... They don't mention wasteland exploring on the wiki at all...



I'll add one of my own...



  • Trying to select and drag a dweller while they are doing sit-ups raising their "S" is impossible unless you zoom REALLY CLOSE, almost to room level. (Not tested in any other SPECIAL raising rooms.)

Unfortunately, I got this one. I checked dwellers list, and everybody is alive. :confused: I really don' t want delete my fully upgraded 3 Room Clinic.




Just confirmed, kill and retrieve a NPC in that room will fix this problem~



Never mind, after fully restart game, it happened again.

I haven't had invincible rad roaches, but I've had invincible mole rats.



Had a diner with 6 people in it, all armed. Killed all the molerats except one. He butchered everyone. Used all my stimpaks fighting him. Dropped 6 more people in, armed. He killed them too. After murdering more than a dozen people, i left the room empty, and he burrowed out. Then the adjacent 4 rooms all spawned mutliple mole rats.


All my armed dwellers were dead already, so ...



This same vault killed raiding deatchclaws, so these molerats were obviously invincible.



There's no real recovering from this. If i had 10,000 caps, i couldn't bring all the dead back to life.... there goes that vault.



Maybe they need a "if 1 enemy kills 6 people, he leaves..." type check to prevent invicible units slaughtering everything.

There's a bug with the "Lounge". When the volume is set to 0% on both the music and sound effects in game, when you zoom into the Lounge the sound comes back on. No other rooms do this that I know of.

I can confirm that this has happened to me repeatedly. Usually I will find a supply cache in the radio tower, most common, but also I've had it happen elsewhere. My character that I send out has a +7 Luck suit jacket and already had 3 Luck to begin with.. so max Luck stat.



Another bug I have found is that in all instances except one, when a dweller has returned to the vault with found items, upon entering the vault, the items are no longer available. The one time this did work was when they found a single revolver and that did appear in the vault inventory. Every other time, when items didn't show in the vault inventory, involved outfits or outfits and weapons being found by the dweller.

When opening a Lunchbox and viewing the first card, if the game crashes for some reason, you lose the other 3 cards.


My phone is well within the optimum system requirements for Bethesda to support my device, here are the specs:

Playing the game on Android in German



- During loading screens there are 2 different types of messages concerning the radio room. One states that an occupied Radio Room increases the general happiness in the vault while the other one says it increases luck. I guess the one concerning luck is wrong?


- Disappearing health bars (can be fixed exiting to main menu and re-entering vault)


- Not-Disappearing health bars on certain dwellers (can be fixed exiting to main menu and re-entering vault)

Game crashes everytime i open my objectives menu. i has no issues on my previous vault but this one is annoying with thaf little setback and i dont want to start another since i have elder lyons

1. After I revived one of my dead dwellers from some stupid cascade of bad timing, he is now permanently at 20% unhappy, there is no invisible dead body anywhere as all my other dwellers are nearly 100% happy.


2. After aforementioned cascade and reviving all but two of my dwellers due to cash shortage, those two subsequently disappeared from my vault as if I had removed them, this happened a few hours after the event as I was concerned that if I exited the vault all the dead bodies would be removed without my consent. It took my best dwellers and equipment with them... Which caused rad poisoning to occur and a few days of recovery with some strategic planning.


3. All of my vaults now have worthless explorers as the only thing they can bring back is caps. All equipment they have on them get sold immediately upon pressing the collect button or simply removed from inventory.


4. I've experienced the invincible radroaches. Thankfully it was in a small level 1 storage room and after I realized my 2 dwellers couldn't kill them I moved them to other areas, the subsequent invasion of other levels weren't invincible.


5. I don't know how to reproduce this but the upgrade and build buttons can sometimes overlap resulting in the upgrade button being on top - exiting to main menu and reloading vault fixes this.


6. I'm not sure about the game mechanics of this but my explorers will never use radaway or stim packs. At what point are they supposed to use them because for me I always equip them with them but it's a waste as they don't use them, I have to manually de-rad and heal them when I collect their scavenged stuff but then as I hit collect the ones he's holding just happen to disappear like he threw them away before getting past the door... It's really annoying.



I play on android with bluestacks emulator on pc cause there's no pc version and I don't have a phone - please make windows app version or native!

I have 46 dwellers, every single one of them has 100% happiness. The average happiness in the vault keeps being stuck at 99% percent for the last few days.

On iPad, some bugs i have are:


After making a female dweller pregnant, she becomes unable to be moved, the floating green figure will appear if held finger on but then disappear if your finger moves - this is solved with a restart of the game or after some time.


Also dwellers out and about listed as finding caches and places etc but not actually finding anything there, which i'm hoping is a bug so that we find it fixed and start getting heaps of goodies..

When training dweller's stats in special rooms and when dwellers are out in the wasteland, the timer goes to >1 rather than 1 to 0 and insantly doing what its meant to.

I've had the invincible mole rat and invincible rad roach bugs. Rad roach killed my first vault, 70+ people. Mole rats killed my 65 people vault. Yes both vaults were heavily armed.

The bug I've found is some of the outfits have gone missing I unequipped them and left 2 power suits in storage and now I can't find them they've disappeared.

I have this bug since a few hours. Whenever I send my dwellers to exploration, there's just the "Send out to exploration 00:00" event. One of my dwellers had been out for about 10h and nothing happend. Is there any fix for this ? When the next update is planned to be released?

Wish there was some official statement about this bugged up release - at least a 'soz we screwed up and Vault-tec is trying to fix it' would be nice - It's very dissapointing to see how this situation is being handled atm and this forum keeps getting flooded with reports of corrupted saves, lost in-game purchases and glitches. Maybe I missed out on such a statement/post?



Can't be that hard to find playtesters these days? Sounds like a dream job to me :tongue:



P.S. For those that don't yet know how messed up the Endurance/HP calculation is - asumed we gonna keep it 'simple' and retroactive since the F3 release! Thought I try keep playing making backup saves regularly after my save with some purchases and phat legendaries got corrupted, but the Endurance formula is just another demotivator now :(

Finally! I found another user with the (similar) bug. The search feature is really crappy on this site.



I did my first day-long expedition yesterday and had him return overnight. I opened the game in the morning and had 8 outfits and about 8 weapons. When I collected and entered, all the outfits went into inventory, but NONE of the weapons. (So slightly different version of your bug).



I tested again this afternoon with a much shorter expedition after one outfit and two weapons were found. Same thing occurred. I wonder if this would occur with different dwellers.... I'll have to send a different one out next time.



LATE EDIT: I posted over at reddit /r/foshelter. Several people suggested that tapping on a weapon or outfit at the door (right before collecting) will put the card into a "sell for caps" state when you Collect. I definitely saw the caps icon on the left of the cards, but I assumed I would have to click on that icon on the card if I wanted to convert. Suggestions indicated to make sure you tap a second time on the card to make sure it's not traded for caps. I tested and was able to bring 2 weapons into storage without any tapping on them prior to "Collect". Just sent the guy out again to bring more weapons back so I can see what tapping once and twice looks like at the door before collection.
