[List] List of Mods in need of open to new mod authors

If you don't mind, I'd rather the boss and racial eyes tweaks be in their own separate files, since they aren't actually bugs, though if the boss fights are as impossible as they sound, maybe it does really need tweaking. I wonder if Zu defeated them himself?
You can make patches to the main file instead of editing it directly by using either esmifying in Wrye Bash or the CSE (way better), I guess you know already.
Did Zu give you editing access to his mod page? That would be preferable to making a new page for this update. Ideally Zu's mod would remain in the 'main file' area and the latest fixed .esp would be uploaded in the 'updates' area by you.
Also, see if you can finish your playthrough with the khajiit character you sent for testing, I think I solved the CTD thing but it might not work for you.

Yeah, any changes I make, I will definitely do through esm mastering (Didn't know cse could do it, I'll check it out there, always did it through Wrye)

The boss fight was nearly impossible for me due to a few reasons, I'll list em:

1: Jyg could catch up to me during the initial rag doll sequence.

2: He ignores any conjured minions (My only line of defense as a mage)

3: He 1 shots me no matter what armor/spells I wear.

4: I have no allies to help.

5: OH, and 10 Elite guards that can also 1 shot me, move at the speed of light, and instantly ressurect at death....

My solution was to limite the elites to 2, increase their death timer slightly so that killing them slows them down (and isn't completely useless)

Other than the changes you made to Jyg, depending weither or not he will attack anything else other than me, might just simply need to scale to the player (and be much higher)

What I will do is this... I will record my fight with him a few times if possible (I stream Oblivion occasionally) which will allow you to watch how it goes :D

Could SI quest details be spoiler tagged? Some of us haven't started SI yet, but want to read this thread too!

That I'm not sure to be honest. If it was possible to have done it all in c++ I'm sure it might be a lot better and more powerful with the ability to do massive merges. I'm not a programmer, nor do I want to be. I'll script in game stuff enough to get by but the hard code? I'm good, I like to go without migraines for awhile.

I think that's a pretty major task. Do we even have the source code for GECKO?? I haven't checked to be honest. When I was part of the MERP team we came across this problem and I think the conclusion was that it was down to limitation with Java. Converting it to C++ would probably solve the problem but wouldn't be an easy task.

Trouble is, in a [censored] economy there simply isn't much incentive to do extensive modding work for free, unless you're already rich. This will eventually cripple the genre.

Even if you're like me and enjoy doing it as a hobby for the reward of accomplishing something others can enjoy as much as I do, too much time is spent in stress over finding work, keeping work, keeping vehicles running, paying extortionist rent... Our modern age has achieved great technology and wealth but the quality of life of the average person is still [censored].

Like Carl Sagan once said, how can we call ourselves advanced when the wealthy are the only ones to gain from all our planet's achievements in science and technology?

The rest of us are little more than indentured slaves, and I see one burnout after another, because if life is an ordeal of constant stress where you live paycheck to paycheck and no progress is really ever made, even to pay off the insane student loans that granted you the privilege, as I said, there really isn't much incentive to do your best, and produce great works for the world to enjoy.

It sort of feels like we've all been betrayed, used, svcked dry, and abandoned. In my humble opinion.

That is nothing new - that game has never changed. After resources are gone - wealth is not created - it is taken. And if subjects don't want to give it up there is always a manufactured need to make them give it up.

I read an article once where Frank Zappa stated that after the show is over and the lights and costumes put away and the actors go home we are left with all that was there to begin with - a brick wall.

[edit] and off topic-sorry, but I like that quote so much I had to share.

Not sure if this is the right topic for this?? We're talking about popular mods that have been abandoned and have been given the go ahead for work to be continued. Perhaps start a thread about the above in the Community Discussion section??

It's in the jar file that comes with the package.

I doubt the limitation can be easily overcome though. It's a JVM issue, not an application issue.

I was just curious, later on when the changes to Zu's SI Overhaul are finished, where should I be looking for the new version :) ? Will there be a release thread, or should I be checking back here :) ?

I wonder if Qarl's Harvest could be updated and improved. Well, more to the point, I wonder if there would be enough interest, both from mod users and modders (at least one of the latter), to make it happen...

Oh, and I am not certain as to whether Qarl would be agreeable to this, either.

Check the license terms on Qarl's Harvest then. That should always be the first go-to spot to find out. If it doesn't mention something about having permission to modify it, you'll have to ask first.

Weye:TICS really needs an update, shouldn't be that hard to fix some meshes and textures that are missing. I really like that mod and have deleted some problematic stuff myself, but an official fix would be good.
