A's List of Recommended Mods

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:15 am

I have no idea why I wrote "in your updated post"....

Maybe I was being sarcastic unconciously? :D Freaky

Either way, thanks for the links Ark. I'll try Delte's. Sounds like my kind of list.

Is it just me, or do all the links to the mods that are on TES nexus do not work? Well, it's still a VERY impressive list of mods. Great job :goodjob:

Just replace in each link that points to TESSource that part with http://www.tessource.net/files/ with this: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/ and you'll be fine :]

About the DEADLY REFLEX 3 by SKYCAPTAIN, you need OBLIVION SCRIPT EXTENDER v12 or higher, or so he says. What does it do and where can you get it?

Googling it will answer that quickly: http://obse.silverlock.org/
It allows scripts to do things they normally can't do.

I've copied the list to http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Review:A%27s_List_of_Recommended_Mods and updated the links to point to TesNexus.

Background: Recently the problem with A's list was pointed out on UESP (which has a list of lists page). It's too good a list to let die, so I wanted to do the copy/correction above. I emailed Aelius, but received no reply. And he hasn't been on the forums since August 2007. So either he has passed away, determinedly left the scene, or is otherwise unavailable. I figured he wouldn't object, so I went ahead. (Of course, if he shows up and does object, we'll remove the page from UESP.)

Editing: The new page is in the Review space at UESP. This is a very limited space (sort of by invitation only) that unlike most of the rest of the site is not open to general editing. I.e. these are authored pages. Since Aelius is not active, the page is now "frozen", i.e. only technical corrections (link fixing, notes about updated versions), etc. is allowed. Please see the notes at the top of that page for more info.

At this point, I've only done a mechanical conversion of links. I've checked a few and the Tesnexus and PES links seem to be working in general. However, there may still be individually broken links (mods removed, forum topics lost, etc.). Feel free to make technical corrections.

Also, ideally the recommended mod flagging would be done a little better. Good enough for now though.

(GF)Open Cities Complete: Make almost every city like a Morrowind city where you can walk right in without that loading screen. If this mod is used with OOO, then there will be no female guards except in the Imperial City. Otherwise it is conflict free with OOO.

Since the description on USEP said we could correct the links, I've corrected this one. But the attached description about female guards and OOO should be changed since I've created an OOO patch for it now as well, which is on the download page with the main file. I'm not sure if updating the description qualifies as a technical correction.

I think the rule will be to just put them in italics. (As I've done in this case.) If there are a lot of such corrections, I may need to rethink that. But the italics sets it off from the original text.

In other news:
* Please use Tesnexus and PES templates when possible.
* I've tweaked the (AF), etc. to bullets that show up after the links.

It's good that this list isn't forgotten. :) It was one of my favorites. I PM'd Aelius when I came back to Oblivion to see if he was still updating, but never got a reply. Couple months ago... :( I hope everything is ok with him.

Well in any case, I've updated the link in my little http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=844149.

To use the links, just exchange tessource. net with tesnexus.com.

Nice job updating the links. But somehow the link pointing to "Birthsigns No Max" didn't survive. In the UESP it points to the wrong mod.
It should be this one: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2202.

I didn't want to go through the trouble of registering at UESP, so I just hope you read it here.

Just to see if it is me. Is anyone else having lots of errors when clicking on the links there? I was trying to open in new tabs and failing miserably :P.

Firefox 3 here.

This list is old, I'm sure its because most the links are for pre- Nexus. The site you mentioned was their old address, so anything listed here either has new links or is dead >_> It would be best to find a more up-to-date list here:

http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=844149&hl=lists

Enjoy~

however, you could try opening the link, and when it tells you 'internet cannot open this page', delete the 'tessource.net', and enter 'tesnexus.com'.

Alot of the mods still have the same id's connected to em (in the address bar at least). I do it all the time, lol. It wont work with all of them, but most.
