List of Traits, and help me choose two.

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 5:04 pm

It's been confirmed on this very forum by one of the devs that this is in fact the complete list of traits. 10 only.

Thanks but my God, that is positively terrible.
I was looking forward to Traits a whole lot, having not played the originals. And this is completely disappointing.

I'd wager an expanded trait list (adding some from earlier games perhaps) will be one of the first mods we'll see.

Good natured is a great pick even for a combat character, provided that you won't use too many weapon types. For max. benefit you'd want to stick with just one type, but that might be too restrictive. Still, even if you used, say, energy weapons and explosives, that'd still be a +15 skill bonus.

No-brainer if you ask me since the benefits provided by the other traits aren't really worth the drawbacks (WW excepted, of course).

It obviously depends on how your role playing. Also not that some unique items can only be acquired by NOT getting the wild wasteland trait.

Trigger Discipline: because it will help make a good sniper character.
Wild Wasteland: because I want to see fallout two style humor.

If not Trigger Discipline then Good Natured because weapons skills aren't really need in the first part of the game.

A trait pack DLC would be even lamer than those weapon pack DLCs you see. $5 for this really cool gun! $5 for +3 to SPECIAL!

Please science, no.

I'll probably go hardcoe my first playthrough. I'll probably pick Trigger Discipline to make those shots count and Wild Wasteland just because.

Exactly

What their meant to do.

I will pick four eyes and WW for my first character.

Foureyes will actually be 2+ per since most glasses give a +1 Per bonus. Unless they give another bonus like the lucky shades, or if (unlikely) they took bonuses off glasses and eyewear.

But foureyes is meant for characters you want to have glasses IMO.

For you I would pick trigger discipline to help conserve ammo and make those shots count. In this game it will be difficult to find ammo I believe but you'll have repair to make custom rounds, but since your in hardcoe I'd reconsider fast shot, accuracy is needed (also depends on the guns your using).

And yes the Built to Destroy sounds decent too. If your going for high repair I'd pick that.

WW is really all about preference, do you want jokes or a more serious tone? If you want the latter just stay away from WW

all i have to say to four eyes is

Chinese stealth armor baby. if they have it then im set.

I don't find it lame.
Would love to have more traits than these crappy one's. (Should've been more in Vanilla but it's too late to change now so all I can hope for is for new traits in a DLC)

I picked four eyes since that's sort of a fun way to rp. I would have also have gone with good natured but you didn't want to do that so I suggested someting else. I don't really know what kind o charcter you want to play. sry I couldn't give a better opinion

Cthon, if you choose Small frame trait and Lockpick as one of your tag skills, you can steal a ton of stimpaks & doctor's bags - which are required for healing crippled limbs in hardcoe. Also, you can have a doctor as a companion, so, this way fragile limbs shouldn't be a problem.

I would go with Trigger Discipline, which could probably be offset by VATS, and whichever one you feel comfortable with.

Now, what is Damage Threshold based off of? A system of 1-100, or 1-10? Because a -2 hit is pretty big for 1-10.

Plus it is just badass. This is sniper style. Think about the heroes in action movies - they dont spray and pray like the goons do. They shoot a couple of precise shots.

Clearly someone hasn't seen enough 80s action movies. :P

I myself will likely go Good-Natured, as I love the out-of-combat options like Speech.

i think im going heavy handed and wild wasteland. the reasoning is since hardcoe came to be my first five or so levels im going to try and hoard all the ammo i come accross by playing ninja style. while opening up room for weapon stats and to work on my bullit making skills. also it might make me some caps selling ammos i dont use but can easly make. also i use vats enough to make melee combat more efficient. and better melee will save some troble if i do run out of ammo. wild wasteland becaus obsidians been thinking about fallout for many years and i want to see what kind of stuff they can throw at me. good or bad, i think it will still be fun and nerve wreaking all what life in the wasteland should be.

I think that trigger discipline vs. Fast shot is more about weapon selection Sniper Rifles and other low fire rates Trigger Discipline Gatling Laser Machine guns abd the like fast shot. My uneducated recommendation for a late game monster rather than a character built for overall survivability would be Built for Destruction and Kamikaze.

I am not partial to any of them, the drawbacks seem too high of a price for the benefit. WW is situational. I doubt that very many of my characters will have the max 2 allowed.

I'm going with Small Frame and Trigger Discipline for my first playthrough. For my second Melee playthrough I'm probably going to use Small Frame and Heavy Handed. I'd say those are pretty good choices for anyone that doesn't mind healing limbs a little extra. The extra AP that comes with the AGI bonus certainly sweetens the deal. I like how they made Traits an important choice, possibly even more so than the ones from the originals.

I'm using trigger discipline, to me its perfect because I'm a accuracy>fire rate type guy. And I'll just throw in Wild Wasteland in there since none of the other interest me for the playthrough im using first time. Mines going to also be Guns, Repair, Survivalist character.

Trigger Discipline. I plan on hunting for food and trophy (Big game like deathclaws make quite the impressive display) using only one rifle, one shotgun, and a knife at any given time, the rest of my inventory is supplies since I'll be playing hardcoe Mode

Trigger Discipline and Wild Wasteland.

Wild Wasteland: The random encounters in Fallout games are hilarious and definately worth the point (fringers crossed for the Knights of the Holy Grail,, clippity clippity clop).
Trigger Discipline because i'll be playing on Hardest settings w. hardcoe Mode and i like the whole "a wellplaced shot can do more damage than a hail of bullets!"-way of playing.
