list of weapons

Post » Mon Feb 08, 2010 3:16 pm

There are still two weapons getting no attention that I'm curious about. Theres the very bottom-left weapon, a rifle of some sort; and the MG under the M249, the one with the chainsaw grip. The fact that the MG has a chainsaw grip makes me think that it has been adapted from a mounted gun, like the M240 they use in helicopters and humvees.

Pause at 1:02. Bottom left, and then the MG two spaces over.

I think the AR is based on a SIG 552.

I think the AR is based on a SIG 552.

thats what i was thinking at first too, but the front end is all wrong. The one thing they seem to have mimiced almost exactly for each gun is the clip, and the SG552 has a banana clip, where the mystery weapon has a straight clip.

The Shape of a magazine really doesn't mean much. After all the M16s in Vietnam had straight ones, but nowadays they're bent.
Also the SCAR-H has straight ones (7.62), but the SCAR-L bent ones (5.56).

Your gun does have the same magazine as BRINK's version of the SCAR.

i heard about that, i thought it was just a rumor though, has it been confirmed?

Apparently there will be one, might be a bit OP'd imo.

Yes, because the heavier you are, the better weapons you can carry.

Heavy can carry heavy weapons as primary and assault rifles as secondary, while lights can only use SMG's as primary and pistols as secondary.

By my count, there are 18 weapons, and 5 pistols in the reactor video, plus the two pre-order weapons for a grand total of 25.

More detailed:
5 Assault Rifles
2 Grenade launchers (a single shot and an "automated" one)
2 Shotguns (pump action and automatic)
2 Machine Guns
1 Minigun
2 Short Rifles
5 SMGs (+1 Pre-order)
5 Pistols (+1 Pre-Order)

considering the "Hockler Machine Pistol" from the Spec-Ops pre-order pack is called a "machine pistol" it may in fact be a sidearm. Its real life inspiration is an MP5, so i put it along with the SMGs.

I'd say that it's a side arm. That way both the Spec Ops and Psycho pre-orders contain a mask, side-arm, tattoo, and accessory.

Guess I'm just fed up with games making the MP7 weak, presumably just because its small. Most games even make it weaker than the mp5, which makes no sense what-so-ever.

xShadowcat I understand your grief about the MP7 but running the 4.6 mm round it's primary is for defeating body armor (just like FNH's 5.7) and only carried by high end bodyguards and such, while the MP5's are 9 mm and is seen in every two bit action movie around the world, the 5s just have greater publicity. But I have a feeling if you can get your engineer to buff your weapon and get armor piercing bullets from the grunt you will have one nasty machine pistol..

Personally I hope they run it as a side arm instead of a primary. But not being able to see how Brink will list it's stats it could be a pretty wicked primary. Bottom line I want one !!!(both in the game and real life!!!) I am almost willing to go to a Walmart just for that pre-order..

On a side note does anyone think that the two pre-order weapons (Hockler and Caeser) are going to be early access or truly exclusive??

Finally in the "Minds on the Brink" video around the 1 min mark they said they recorded 45 different weapons.. So I hope there are more than just 25, granted some of the weapons sounds change based on available modifications and some weapons get dropped out all together.. But I don't see how that would cut the total number almost in half.

That was just for creating their own raw. They obviously don't plan to use every weapon sound, its just to give a nice selection. Its also possible to combine sounds in different ways to make unique sounding guns. 25 Weapons is around the mark that was described by the devs in one interview or another.

I would prefer more options when it comes to things like the short rifles and especially the shotguns. I mean, as a medium, if you want a shotgun, there's only one choice, hopefully there are more at release than what the video shows. Especially considering the close range nature of the game.

With customization, there may be a great degree to make a weapon match your style. So its possible they just decided to give shotguns a larger amount of add-ons and upgrades, rather than offering more base weapons.

There is no indication of whether Spec-Ops and Psycho will be available as paid DLCs later on, but I wouldn't mind either way. Having a cool exclusive gun to show off down the road will be fun, but being able to get that revolver from the psycho pack would be cool too.

P.S. Lets see, compared to the mp5, the MP7 has an armor piercing round with higher velocity, lower recoil, better accuracy, not to mention the weapon shoots faster all while weighing less and being smaller....and somehow its always made to be about as powerful as a squirtgun in games.

Caesar Revolver

Which comes with silencers, something I find more interesting than scopes.

I think that they each are going to be good in a completely different manner. You have a weapon that is most likely meant to be sprayed while on the run, and then a gun that only has 6 shots per clip, but can hold its own if aimed. In most games, with enough skill aiming is better; but SD seems to be attempting to balance spraying vs aiming, so I think the player that knows when and how to use both styles will be on top.

But, if i had to compare just the guns and not the styles, I would guess that the Caesar is effective out to a longer range, but the Hockler will be better point blank and short range.
