List your games that work well on your PS3

Post » Fri Aug 21, 2009 4:12 am

I currently own the following games,

here's the break down of the ones that run smoothly, with mild to no "glitching" or noticeable gameplay instability:
  • Civilization: Revolution
  • Assassin's Creed
  • Assassin's Creed II
  • Guitar Hero: World Tour
  • COD:Modern Warfare
  • COD:Modern Warfare 2
  • Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition
  • MLB 10: The Show
  • Madden NFL 10
  • James Bond 007
  • Just Cause 2
  • Playstation Move Sports Champions
  • Batman: Arkham Asylum
  • Virtual Tennis 3
  • Lego Star Wars
  • Far Cry 2
  • God of War Collection
  • God of War 3
  • Deathspank: Legend of the Purple Thong
  • PixelJunk's Monsters
  • Demon's Souls

Here's the ones that have numerous bugs that make the game a real chore to get through:
  • Fallout 3: GOTY
  • Fallout: New Vegas

To say that it's the Playstation's fault is a bit absurd. Please stop saying it's the PS3.

Same here.
Other than a few funny glitches, I didn't even have any real problems with FO3 or Oblivion.

I've noticed a lot more bugs in the Call of Duty games than I have in either Fallout game. I seriously don't understand how people can say Fallout 3 and NV are "impossible" to play.

Your just not expirencing the same issues as the rest. I have had issues that stop me from completing quest, and main charecters falling into the map so I cant talk to them. I never had any big issues with fallout 3. I didnt buy it new either. Alot of people also said that game never got an update, but you can look online and see it did. Im hoping after this update finaly comes out it fixes all these issues causing NPC to ignore you after shooting them, or followers just disapearing.

I agree, my point was to let the people know that the issues are not a result of the PS3 itself. But thanks for posting!

For me (and lots of others), it's exactly that simple. The game freezes ... it locks up and game play literally stops. The system has to be rebooted. There is no specific cause as the problem is random and occurs anywhere within 15 minutes to several hours of play. If you read around some of the other threads, you'll see that this is very common to a lot of players. The problem is in the software. It's not my system and I'm not overreacting or overstating the frequency. It's very literally a game killing issue.

On the upside, for you, at least you're not having to deal with it. I wish I didn't either. :hehe:

Really? Interesting. I've had my PS3 for 3 years now and only once outside of a Fallout game did it crash. And that was during playback of a rented blue-ray movie that turned out to be scratched. Thanks for your post

The only games I experienced with Freezes or jumping frame rates are FO3 & FO:NV. I had initial freezes with FO3, but I think it would only lock up once in like 8 hours of gameplay. Now with the DLC, I had a hell of a time getting that to run correctly, especially Zeta. After dealing with the freezes over several weeks ( After MotherShip Zeta's release ) I decided to delete the entire content reinstall the main patch and then reinstall each DLC. This worked for the majority of the DLC and especially VERY helpful with Zeta.

As for FONV, I'm averaging 1 freeze per every 4 hours... I'm contemplating try a reinstall with FONV, but this time not to D/L the tribal pack DLC... I'll try anything at this point...

It's worth a shot. Didn't work for me, but I wouldn't let that discourage you. I've read other players having success doing that. If not getting rid of freezes completely, at least minimizing the affects. FO3 for me would freeze, I'd say at a rate of about once every 2 hours outside. If I was indoors, it would NEVER freeze. Same issues with Fallout:NV.

If the bug stops you from accessing a key area which is imperative to completing the Main Quest, yeah, I think it's fair to describe it as impossible to play.

I can honestly say my copy of FO3 never crashed on me. . . Atleast I certainly don't remember it crashing and I have all of the add-on packs. No other games I own have really ever crashed either. Don't blame the system.

I have a PS3 Slim European version, 250GB.

My library of games in disc:

FIFA10, FIFA11, Madden10, NHL10, NBA2k10, LittleBigPlanet, MAG, COD: Modern Warfare, Heavy Rain, Sports Champions, Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto IV (+ both expansions), Fallout 3: GOTY, Oblivion, Metal Gear Solid IV, Dragon Age: Origins, 3D Dot Game Heroes, SEGA Mega Drive Collection, Trivial Pursuit, Uncharted, Uncharted 2.

My library of games downloaded from the PSN:

Sam & Max and The Devil's Toybox, ZEN Pinball, Street Fighter II HD, Hustle Kings, Tumble, Flight Control HD, topatoi, Super Stardust HD, Reto Mental (Mental Challenge, or sth), PixelJunk Shooter, Monsters and Eden, Peggle, Joe Danger, Flower, Echocrome and Braid.

Most of the games have worked flawlessly, but I'm going to mention those I recall having minor/serious problems with:

Trivial Pursuit - Works great, but for some reason the system hangs when trying to access the shop from the game. Always. And no, it hasn't been patched. I can buy things through the PS Store though, but from the game it's impossible.

MAG - Possibly some glitches, but I dont care about those. A few times (not many, but some), I was joining a game and the system would hang at the loading screen. Nothing else.

Oblivion - I have only made a few hours in and sometimes I experience frame rate drops when wandering the world. Maybe I face more problems later, à la Fallout3 (see below)

Fallout3 - I would say it's one of the best games I've ever played. I can't give it a 10, though, due to bugs, and y'all know what I'm talking about. At first everything was perfect, I was really hooked to the game and didnt get crashes at all... Well, maybe one or two, but I didnt care, I didnt read the internet about bugs and so on, and so there were "funny" to me. Also, after 5 hours in a row, I thought "well, let your blacky thingy rest a little". I finished the story and so on, and decided to do extra quests, trophy-hunting, DLC completing... Freezes began to appear more commonly the more hours into the game, and it was beginning to be frustrating. I specially recall having BIG trouble trying to go into the Mothership, the only way I could do it was saving in front of the OVNI, rebooting the system and going from them. Otherwise, the system would hang after the abduction. My save file is now 16Mb, +80 hours in, I've completed almost every quest (I think I have 3 or 4 left, minor ones... like the Aqua Pura one), got every trophy, but you know how the world is: huge. And so I have many places to discover, still, even if there's nothing in them. I would like to wander the Capital Wasteland for many more hours but the game now is COMPLETELY UNPLAYABLE. I'm not selling it because I know I can make a fresh start and play differently and get maybe another nice 40 hour game seeing everything I hadnt seen before, but my 80 hour play is just trash now. 10 minutes in, and freeze, 2 more minutes, and complete freeze that leads to reboot.

Those are the biggest things I recall from what you see I have a quite big library of games. Maybe I've had other crashes but... you know, so rare I dont even remember. TheHut.com sent my copy of New Vegas yesterday, hopefully I'll get it by Friday, and I'll let you know how it plays in my Slim. I just wish it's similar or better than Fallout3, but no worse...

I should add that Dragon Age:Origins is also one hell of a bug fest. Bioware takes care of that game the same way Bethesda does with Fallout 3 and NV. Meaning none care whatsoever. Be prepared to experience Mass Effect 2 at it′s worst.

You know what would be an even more fun experiment. How about you go take a look at the relevant forums for all those games you own and see how many people are [censored]ing that the game is inherently buggy or broken due to issues you never have and never will experience ^_^

I have nearly 60 or 70 games on my pS3 and it happen time to time that my PS3 freeze (maybe 2 per month) but it happen with all of my game so i think it is coming from my old old PS3.

FNV is the only one wich i have issue with. it is freezing very very often ... + lag + inventory issue .... ( lucky for me FO3 was correctly running on my pS3).
It is even the first time i search the net for issue on the PS3 games as i was really not able to play at the start.

I have to say that i bougth a PS3 to do NOT have to be bothered with those kind of issue (if i want issue on a game, i buy it on PC :) )
the most terrible think is that this game is marvelous but "bug" crash all our interresset ....

Well I tried it, and unfortunately I didn't see a difference... Last night after the install I played about 2hours and got my first freeze, 3 hours later freeze 2 hit me. I even removed the Pre-order bonus DLC just incase as well.

More and more I am convinced the system is having trouble rendering the world, it seems to get backed logged and then crashes. Furthermore I don't recall ever crashing indoors...

As like everyone else, I can't wait for the patch even if it only fixes 50% of the issues....

P.S. I'm wondering if these issues are created by the forums team to boost activity! Those sly bastards! :lmao:

yes there are bugs in DA:O, but at least you can play the dam game all the way through with rare crash/freeze problems....

I've played DA:O for 12 straight hours with NO crash/freeze... and this game has never been 'patched'... this is right 'out of the box..'

Strangely enough I just got a patch for DA:O a couple of days ago... I thought there was no support for the PS3 but upon loading the game
I got a notice saying that the game software was being updated... don't remember that patch number... I think it was something like 1.6 or 1.06...
Anyway, kinda surprised to see it considering I've already been playing it for some months now...

not so for FONV.. a crash every 4 or 5 hours is pretty much guaranteed...
and at times less than that depending on what you're doing...
The good news is it sounds they are already working on patching the game so
maybe the worst of the bugs will be gone...

Return to Fallout: New Vegas
