Litany of Larceny Bug

Post » Sat Dec 17, 2011 1:12 am

So, after I completed the Thieves Guild, without finishing all of the Larceny quests first, the option to give them to Delvin isn't there. Is there a console command work around for this? I put in Setstage LGlarceny 80. like the UESP suggests but its not working. Also tried to Completequest command, but its like the id isn't working. Help!!!

I had this problem, too, on my last larceny item. At first, I had two others in my inventory (the bee and the puzzle box) and quest log, and when I picked up the last item (the map), it COMPLETED the previous two quests and did not give me the last one. So I reloaded a save, turned in the two that were in my inventory, and tried the last item again - and no quest was given when I stole it. So it just sits in a dresser in Breezehome.

The larceny quest is bugged. When you retrieve the final item you need to give to Delvin (no matter what it is), the game does not set the quest stage to whatever stage prompts you to bring the item to Delvin, it sets the quest to its Complete stage instead.

If you've already been hit by this, it's too late. No console intervention can fix this because the game has totally terminated the quest, scripts can no longer affect it. the only way to get around it is to perform the console intervention before the bug hits you.

However, since the quest is effectively complete, you could also just put the items onto the shelves yourself (complete quest means quest item flags for those items are removed) and add in your payment through the console (every normal item is worth 800 Gold, the Falmer Eye is worth 3200). ObjectID for Gold is F.

So I guess I should just put my Dwemer Box and two Falmer Eye gems in the bookcase manually? Do you happen to know where exactly on the bookcase they go? Since Ive notices some of the Sweep Job items showing up on the bookcase as well, like the jewelled candelabra, etc.

Everything but the East Empire Company shipping map (I got bugged on that item, so I don't know where it goes).

(You can only turn in the right Falmer eye, by the way, Delvin never asks for the left one.)

Awesome. So the falmer eye goes next to the jewelled Horn, and I still need the Jewelled ship. I know the map goes behind the ship that you get for the larceny quest. At least now I know where everything goes. Are those three items from the Sweep jobs the only ones that show up on the bookcase (Horn, ship, candelabra)? And is there ever an option to put some books in there as well, like a regular bookcase?

I don't think so, there's also jewelled urns and vases that you pick up during burglaries and sweeps, so those will eventually appear on the shelves, too.

There are console commands, but you end up using the command to place the item in your inventory, but you don't actually pick it up. You can trigger the quests this way and even though the item is not in your inventory, you will talk to Delvin and he will give you the money for the item and it will appear on the shelf in the Cistern. There is way to do this while also looting the item to turn it in and "keep" it as well, but it's usually easier to just set the command to appear as if you've already looted it and not to take it from

The console command is:
setstage TGLarceny 80

This is an example for the Eye of the Falmer (the number represents the item), because my husband had issues with this quest because it was his last item. This is what he did to complete it. If you saved before entering the area where the item is located, be sure to place this command then. It does not work after the quest is completed, so you will need to redo the quest where the item is after having placed the command.

Larceny Numbers:

20- Queen Bee
30- Golden Decanter
40- Map
50- Ship
60- Puzzle Cube
70- Gray Fox
80- Left Eye

You're welcome. And yes, you don't actually need any of these items to complete the quests there. It's just extra money for you and decorations in the end. :)
