A little Birdy for Vvardenfell

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:13 am

So, I've heard though some channels (I would in the gaming industry) that in the lead-up to Skyrim, Bethesda may be releasing a spruced up version of Morrowind a la Morroblivion style. Reliable source, but then again, you never know. Just throwing it out there to the group, keep an eye on the summer Q2 line-up.

btw, been on these forums since Morrowind's time, decided I was too excited with this info, so had to finally sign up to get this off my chest.

That would be awesome if they did, but do you have a source??

You say reliable source and yet you do not speak of that source's name

If I could, I would. Believe me. Take it for what it is: speculation, truth or [censored]. Just wanted to let you know.

That's suspicious at the very least :P I doubt that's going to happen. If it does, I'll be a happy man.

Sounds like stirring, with a very big stick. Maybe they have the time to redo Fallout 1 and 2 with the Creation Engine. Mmmmmmm.

I would set fire to 100 newborn kittens for morrowind with long view distance and HD graphics on xbox live.

Unlikely.
Either they update it with Oblivion or some in-between features and it becomes outdated almost immediately or they release it with Skyrim features and give away everything before the big release.

If it's true - great.

If not - meh. Skyrim is just around the corner anyway.

Okay, seriously? Reading forums and having something worth-while to say have a yawning divide between them. Not about courage. Don't see how that equates to a lie. Secondly, I already said, Im not asking anyone to believe it. Word of mouth from what I consider to be a reliable source. Take it or leave it. Calling someone a liar is a hell of a stretch, buddy. (these type comments are one of the reasons I never signs up to begin with. difficult time dealing with irrational anger and name calling). Peace.

perhaps they tried to recreate some areas of vvardenfel using the new engine, or found that they could port the morrowind files into the new engine and then decided to 'remake' the game if you will.

a remake it definatly will not be... but a remastered version I can easily imagine. Too add long distance view and hd graphics would probably take a day of extra programming.. and for what they would gain selling it on xbox live = profit.

Definately not a remake. What I had said was a "sprucing up", more along the lines of LoD, texture / mesh, scripting and other HD improvements.

Sounds pretty likely since they hired a lot off new people and not all the programmers are going to work on TESVI, or whatever big project they're planning to do next, right off the bat.
You got to keep as many people as possible busy, right?

But I'm 100% sure it will just be a cheap rebuilt to make some extra pocket-money on the consoles, nothing to get really excited over imo.
They'll never remake Morrowind with a new engine, so it will not be like "Morroblivion".

As much as i highly disbelieve it, i'd hope it didn't go too oblivion style, i don't want to hear about seeing mudcrabs in morrowind lol

I am going to change my opinion to say that this just might be true. Why, because Bethesda seems to have issue with a certain mod compilation.

If this turns out to be true, I would buy it for everyone I know and myself. Seriously.

If not though, I call always just play the PC version with graphics extension mods and the unofficial patch and be just as happy. :)

I'd be more apt to believe that they'd release Oblivion remastered before Morrowind, though.

That would be awesome. I'd love to play Morrowind with Oblivion's looks. Except keep the water from Morrowind. Nothing will ever look as good as Morrowind's water. :P
