Little Features that you're excited about

Post » Sat Feb 26, 2011 4:34 am

I know there are some pretty groundbreaking features like the graphics, animation, dual wielding, and dragons that everyone is excited about. But there are some pretty nice smaller features that I'm pretty excited about. For example:

When using a fire spell, tap the button for a burst and hold for a flame. I'm excited about this because it gets rid of the need for "on touch" and "on target" spells. Instead, you decide of it's going to be touch are target. This little addition has me excited.

Also excited about runes. Coming from Call of Duty I started up Oblivion the other day and all I kept thinking was "I wish I could set a trap behind me" (like claymores in CoD).

I'll also be excited to see the improvements to stealth. Too often in Oblivion you'd hit someone with a bow while sneaking and the enemy would be alerted. No matter where you hid it seemed like the enemy always ran right toward you. I got excited when I read an article and Todd said that hitting someone in stealth mode would alert them (a la Fallout 3, whose stealth system I had no problems with). I can't wait to repeatedly sneak attack my foes.

Any small features that you guys are excited about?

Me? Woodcutting, mining, smithing etc. I can imagine myself spending a lot of time doing these things.

I'm excited about cooking. I love to cook in real life, so I'm definetly going to do it a lot in Skyrim. My character will gather meat and seasonings from the wilderness to bring back to his home and fire up the fireplace so he can make a nice pot of meat stew. :D

Yeah, me too. All the tinkering with combat will be awesome: wielding dual shortswords, sword in one hand with various spells in the other, sword and shield, shield and spell, etc.

I'm sooo excited about that one pretty little village we saw in the trailer... looks like it has the potential to become my new home in Skyrim. Other than that, too little is known about the small details of the game for me to be able to say that I'm particularly excited about any of them.

Spiders. All right, they may not be "little", but I'm quite excited about fighting them :D

I'm excited by the woman in the tavern. I'll try to make one like her in the creation screen.

crafting; specificly smithing, I hope there will be some mining to get materials as well since mineing and smithing are my favourite thing to do in games that allow such gameplay.

pretty excited about the spell thing too, I really want to use the spell charging thing.

I'm quite looking forward to spending faaar too much gold and then dropping everything I just bought and watch the mayhem ensue.

Children will walk through fights (Consisting of men and a sword I dropped) just to give me something else I purposely dropped behind a house.

Also, setting fire to trees and not being able to duplicate stuff. The dupe glitch, though quite fun, ruined Oblivion quite substantially for me.

Which one are you referring to? The one with that big rock arch with water going underneath and a mill or the one with a few houses and the character that is being played is wearing a hood and a robe?

Flame arrows, assuming they are in (saw one in an artwork). I always liked playing with fire in games (in Gothic 3 I loved that sword covered with fire, although it was killing my framerate).

are children confirmed?

and the dupe glitch was erased before FO3 even came out, in one of the patches, but I sure did miss it. you didn't have to use it and it was not really game breaking since having a super massive amount of gold is useless since there isn't much you can do with it other than buying houses. I had one character in which I used the glitch and I thought it was fun, but I never used it for my serious game play characters. but I do have more self control than most people. I wonder if there will be a duplication mod?

Woodcutting and all the other "chores" that you can do. That'll be fun to mess around with.

I find it difficult to discern which features are "small" and which are "grand". I'd answer handmade environments, but somehow I feel that falls within the "grand" category. Here goes:
Dual wielding two magic staves and two shields

Sprint - adding more dynamic movement

Dynamic weather - no more snow/rain going through covers

Crafting - YES! finally some rpg features actually being added for once, awesomeness.

The setting - Northern regions over bland fantasy setting any day.

Same here, i'm sure my first character will spend alot of time doing those things (can't be killing dragons everyday!)
The new perk system has me pretty excited too
