Little graphical touches you'd like to see

Post » Thu Jun 10, 2010 3:15 am

1. nipbles
2. blurry and swaying vision when drunk or high on skooma, with vomiting (like guild wars did)
EDIT: Auditory and visual hallucinations while high on skooma

I think some of the best looking games look so great because of all the little things that the devs put in.

For example, I think it would be cool to see a heat refraction effect over fires in the game.

Better water/window reflections
More detailed character models: finger/toenails, eyelashes, scars/make-up/tattoos and more realistic looking hair.

Powerfull thunerbolts coming down the sky.

And for the love of God please change the way magic looks. I really hated the way some spells looked in Oblivion. Fire-spells was ok, but the rest was just as beautifull to watch as a picture painted by a drunkenly blindfolded goblin picking his nose. Oblivion still look awsome, its just so sad that thing that got most potential, magic, looked so boring. I miss the awsome feeling you should have by throwing fireballs out off your hand.

I would like to see water running down my character when its raining/just after swimming.

I found a mod that adds it to oblivion, and it may be a small thing, but it makes quite a big difference.

The graphics look great and thats all I need. The could have improvement but they certainly do not need it. The animations are the best in gaming history. Animations are realism for me.

Maybe, your clothing could get worn and thin and maybe ripped.
Your pet horse, to get a bit dirty, so you could put it in water to clean it.
And when your in a building, the windows, aren't like morrowind or oblivion, you could look at them and see the outside.
And hair moving freely with the weather or when your running

I'd like it if everything didn't look like it was made of plastic. Even dirt in Oblivion had a high sheen on it. This isn't exclusive to TES though, a lot of games today look awful because of this.

I think this is going away for the most part. I think the materials all look much more realistic this time around. People don't glow anymore!

You don't see this as often as you used to, either. I think earlier in this generation they were obsessed with it because it was new technology, hah.

As for little graphic details...how about dust rising when someone is sweeping?

Tracks left in the snow.

Slightly shaky cam when sprinting.

The illusion of being wet in the rain.

Water running down your sword.

Walking into a stream will clear the blood from your blade/clothes.

God rays shining through the leaves.

Awesome spell effects (hopefully!)

Hand adjusting on the sword handle for a better grip with inactivity

Mist on the morning lake! Oh, that would be nice.

I think someone said lightning and thunder. Awesome idea. Maybe spider lightning. Google if it you don't know what I mean.

Fun thread!

I don't have any particular ideas, but I want the best-looking water possible. I love water-related graphical details and effects more than most, if not all, other graphical details in video games, so I would just love to see the best water possible.

The pulsing and blurred vision would be fine for first person, but not for third person imo.

~Lightning/electricity (I never did like the way it looked in oblivion at all, which was exceptional because the game is 5 years old).

~Arrows that actually gets stuck in soft ground

~Realistic water (which is i think quite convincing after seeing all the screenshots, very satisfied with this :D)
