a little more sixual topics/jokes?

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 2:19 am

firstly- i dont want this game like fallout new vegas (were everyone had some oddity) but couldent bethesda put a little more references? i am mostly talking about books here, but perhaps when npcs have a high disposition they may possibly flirt, tell rude jokes or perhaps simply look at both players and other npcs that they like?

this is a manly land! i expect manly jokes about things that men joke about! i expect men to occasionaly oggle at girls that walk by and possibly comment about it and so on. the same goes for females. i want to walk around a town, hear something funny and laugh my ass off. we cant have a super serious game can we? perhaps we could even hear some sixual jokes that are race specific?

I like flirting with all the fine lasses and getting rowdy with the guys at the pub.

Bethesda is not renown for their writing talent.

That said, it might be funny to see some guy checking out the bar maid, or farmers daughter, or whatever.

I like how the poll options both assume it's a good idea and only refer to whether bethesda is good enough.

There was hilarious sixual humor in every single Elder Scrolls game by the way, so Bethesda definitely can pull it off.

I'll go for that - as long as there are some repercussions. Some drunk getting battered because he made a racist or sixist joke within earshot of someone would be pretty funny! :P Same with NPCs just reacting in other ways in general - favourably or offering a comeback; would make the world seem more alive. Don't know how hard this would be to do though in terms of AI.

As long as the game doesn't become a bunch of sixual jokes everywhere, I wouldn't mind one now and then, it'd be fun.

Flirt with the barmaid, an angry mother with knife is spawned to attack you. Flirt with the mother, an angry husband with axe is spawned to attack you.

Other reason why I would like fist fights to not be to the death and guards can break them up.

I get what you mean :hubbahubba: but in all seriousness I don't think its a bad idea really. I mean think about it, it would actually be more realistic because a lot of people do it and i'm sure the other races do it all the time.
think about it :bolt:

I'm sorry, I meant dialogue writing in their games. My mistake.

Definitely - maybe they could set something up so that "casual fights" are just set up for people to be KO'd? Like, if it was your first fight with a normally docile NPC, you'd have to whip out a weapon for it to be fatal. Same for NPCs fighting each other.

Wow, straw man much? He didn't say that he didn't want anything to be funny. In fact, all he said was that the poll is biased and has no options for people who might not want more sixual humor in the game.

(There are plenty of other ways to be funny, you know.)

I'm sure Beth. have the writing talent in house, the actual content that makes it into the game is more a matter of the direction and focus as decided by 'the powers that be'.

Take for example a girl standing by a pond or a dashing highway man by the side of the road. Where once a writer may have be briefed to write 100 or 200 words on the situation and background from which the in-game story would be derived, these days it appears at best 10 word summary is requested and the in-game detail reduced to 'Lost my ring' or simply 'kill him'. No time is allowed and no detail requested because 'voice acting costs money and the target audience doesn't want story'. :(

i just wish that there was more talking opptions, like if you pick a male character than there was an option to flirt with female npc's, it adds to the realism.

The books and some of the dialogue are great but people who create the main plot are just......................yeah. Well ok mostly the Oblivion plot which had so many plotholes.

I also blame voice acting for the lack of dialogue.

That would be good too - it's about as far as I'd want to take PC "romances" - so you could use your "charms" to wheedle some info out of certain NPCs. Not sure if the six specific perks a' la Fallout would be too much though.

Umm what? All their in game books are great. Their dialogue most of the time is great as well.

As for sixual content, we have the Lusty Argonian maid and The Real Barenziah from Daggerfall (go look it up, good read, especially the passage that got censored in Morrowind and Oblivion. hardcoe pron in that passage yo.)

Oblivion and Morrowind had some funny tales.. Unfortunately it was mostly found in the books.. It would be nice to see some humorous actions or stories take place around you or with part of a quest. Every now and then you just need some silly and it's such a relief when you find a bit in a dramatic world of killing and monsters. .. I can't remember what quest it was now.. I can't even remember now if it was morrowind or oblivion. but there was one quest that turned out to be quite silly and I had saved before doing it.. ended up reloading it and doing it again just because the silly was so unexpected..

Adding superficial sixual content for no other purpose than to amuse people is a cheap tactic to boost sales. It doesn't improve the game.

I don't mind content that is realistic for a representation of a living world and individual personalities. Okay, walk into a seedy Nord bar, and you're bound to get some comments. If the PC is particularly close with an NPC, they might talk about their personal lives. Certain NPCs might have particularly less than savory intentions. That's just good character/level design. I expect them to do that without being told. By saying you want more, you're asking for gratuitous sixual content to amuse you.

Edit: I'd just like to point out that that's just my personal opinion. Bethesda have always included some advlt content in their games as the realistic world contains it. I think they have always covered these topics without making the game itself perverse or obscene. Just my thoughts.
