A little paint wouldn't hurt

Post » Sat Jun 12, 2010 11:58 am

I find it interesting that the folks left in this world can figure out how to make robots and fancy plasma guns (etc) but can't seem to be able to paint a room. Or take a sofa apart and re-cover it to make it look better??

OR clean a bathroom! There is all kinds of cleaning products around but Nobody seems to know how to use them.

Is it just the "neat freak" in me or have others of you wondered the same thing? LOL

There was thread like this just yesterday. It's like that just for the post apocalyptic feeling, i think. And besides painting a house does not make it bulletproof, but more likely to be hit by raiders in a world like that ;)

Most robots aren't of new construction. Same probably goes for plasma weapons. I know Gun Runners supposedly builds their guns, but that's mostly traditional weapons.

This is why "prospecting" is so prolific. Very few people are building anything new at all. Virtually everything is salvage. Even the boxed foods are salvage.

I've had the same thought. FO3 I could understand; the Captial District wasteland really was a wasteland with no real civilization to speak of. But FONV is more of a frontier, with stable towns/trade/armies and residents. I wouldn't think a little interior paint and a clean tub would be out of place...

Heck, thos guys who are building what's left aren't really building them; they're just taking the crap stuff that the prospecters bring back, strip 'em down, take out the parts in good condition, and rebuild it with those good parts.

5 broken Mr. Handys = 1 working Mr. Handy. Only guy who was really making anything new was Ashur back in The Pitt DLC for FO3. And (presumably) the Enclave.

Hmmm so my character is capable of repairing weapons and armor But Not able to use the cleanser (that is everywhere) to clean the toilet.....interesting ROFL

I understand why one wouldn't want to fix up the outside of a home/shack but just a little paint and cleaning on the inside would make a world of difference.

They have to fix society first. Who cares about sprucing up a house when most people are starving, thirsty, being murdered by the hundreds and uneducated?

Remember, though, this is the frontier. It's the Wild Wild East, y'all. Back West in the NCR, things are almost pre-war normal by all accounts you hear about it from NPCs.

I did wonder, back in FO3, why some of those folks hiding out in Rivit City didn't sweep up a bit. :)

LOL great points - I've thought a bit about things like this, but painting or cleaning never occurred to me!

You're right, cleaning products are everywhere!

But, there's no paint stores, so obviously no one has any paint anymore :P

You can make white paint from lead and cow [censored] *crap, so that's no excuse! 2 things they have an abundance of!

I've considered making a mod that fixes up some of the mirrors, and lots of the other things of similar nature. Specially in places like Tops and the Luxe.

Never made any sense to me that in the Luxe you have sparkling white toilets, but every mirror looks like it's been subjected to a cub scout group with a bb gun in every hand.

I thought it was hilarious in Luxe when I met the owner whose name I forget, and she was bigging up the class and refinement of the place - with a battered, filthy looking filing cabinet in view over her shoulder. Heh ha.
