My Little Pony

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 12:44 am

I'd agree with most shows, but this one makes something previously horribly girlish into genuinely good entertainment that offers more than just attention grab for kids.

I don't remember the 80s version being particularly bad that way though. I ended up see it quite a bit, 'cause my sister was older than me.

Could just be dead brain cells though. Being old and all.

Damn this thread makes me feel old. I remember my sister watching the 80s version. My childhood is slowly being relaunched in a bastardized form.

I hope they bring back the Care Bears. That show rocked.

Apparently they already have...

I wonder what monstrosities they'll start making for the children of my generation, circa 2020...

Probably a version of The Demon Headmaster where all the kids are from east london and speak in ghetto slang.

I'll put money right now that Cookie Monster is totally removed from Sesame Street when cookies become not even a sometimes food.

So tomorrow we're gonna get a topic like this?

"Relationship advice.. my girl dumped me after watching 563 straight episodes of My Little Pony what do I do?"

I'm sigging that.

Also, http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e259/EvilFish1/Untitled.jpg

I loved that book!

Me too! It scared the crap out of me as a kid. The second book was rubbish though.

TV series was better. The headmaster looked like Jack Straw.

Probably replaced with something vaguely similar to keep the character but change it enough to be palatable for changed sensibilities. Like how all the gollywogs were removed from Noddy and replaced with goblins.

Massive nostalgia. They've already started killing our childhoods, have you seen the new postman pat and fireman sam episodes? They're dreadful.

Edit: Why didn't they just introduce a veggie monster?

As far as ponies go, got sneezed on one as a kid. Pony snot is most unpleasant.

AFAIK he was morphed into Veggie monster, because of childhood obesity.

The morph isn't complete though. I saw him eating a cookie on CNN last month while saying it was a sometimes food.

Don't expect to see me on the forum for much longer....

Don't worry, I'm sure the show isn't that addictive.

I've heard horror stories about urbanised postmen....

As long as they don't [censored] with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coZfzTcv4bA&feature=related.

As did I. Horrible mess. Like the Brachiyosaur in Jurassic Park.

Hmm, I see horses on the way to the train. Never will I be able to look at them the same way again.

I vaguely remember Bertha. Wasn't that the one about northeners working in a factory? Presumably a public service broadcast by the bbc to prepare northern children for their inevitable industrial futures.

:toughninja:

I think I last saw it in 1993, when I was in Nursery School, so technically yes. It really was much [censored] grimmer then. Nobody seemed to have any money for anything, the food was rotten, the cars would never start...

And I've worked in a place quite like that, eerily similar, right down the Indian driving the forklift. I guess I'd be the women moving the boxes.

I just watched the last episode of the season. It was pretty good, especially the Fluttershy moments.
