Live Update for CTR Boosting [Update 09/06]

Post » Sat Jun 11, 2011 7:10 am

Can't you learn from older games like Unreal Tournament 99 or Unreal Tournament 2004, or even Unreal Tournament 3?
In what way?

We feel this is a good compromise/reward and a way to invalidate boosting. Now, in order to boost XP, you need to actually play the game properly (go from point A to point B!) :)

Thanks!

I can only speak for myself, but.....
...Nope. Your feeling is wrong. Sure, it's good against boosting. But ffs, I'm a defensive player!!! I'm not good enough to play (Team) Instant Action, Assault is s**** because I can't level my modules......Since the game's out I've only played CTR and Extraction. Seems like from now in I'll only play Extraction.

Silly balance changes, hackers, bugs (plenty of time, still no fix for promo stuff) and now this.
[irony] Wonderful work! Well done! [/irony]

bye. Have a nice day.

Fix these bugs from CTR update, please... Giant white snowball of doom (a.k.a Nanosuit jammer) looks so awesome with the bug.. Still, needed to be fixed..

lol, but the "[/Sarcasm]" font tool is clearly labeled.

On topic, I've already experienced just about every bizarre, unrelated, significant side-effect bug that this humble little live-update apparently created before I even knew it was installed. Face to face, finding no ammo in my attachment, clicking like a fool... priceless.

Hi guys,

The issues introduced with this latest live update have been resolved. Next time you log into MP it should be working correctly :)

Also, please note that these changes are not final. Just as easily as they can be deployed, they can be altered, so please keep your feedback coming regarding the XP boosting changes!

Thanks!

Hi, Crytek i really like the improvements youre making, and its getting to be a greater game than it already is. :D/ But i have a prob, I got kicked and banned from 2 servers even though im not hacking. Now, this gets to be a prob sometimes, if you can work around it, thats awsome. But if you cant, its fine. Was just informing. Its nice that this boosting thing is done with, and just keep doing what youre doing because its working.

Cant play right now because my G73JH is getting fixed at the shop. Its nice to know that crysis will be better when my pc gets back :D

thats great....

well what i feel is if xp boosting is curbed then thats great... players should Earn XP... and in CTR, u earn it by carrying it to base.
Although i feel boosters can still take advantage... meaning now only one person can boost Xp... the one taking the enemy flag... the other returning the flag has to sacrifice not gaining XP.

to overcome this, some kind of algorithm has to be made...
1) like maybe create a certain base radius... and flags have to be returned outside of this base radius to earn XP. flags returned within the base radius dont earn xp (cos its already near the base)
2) or have some kind of cooldown period of how long a player can return a flag
3) same thing can apply for flag carriers... picking up a flag in the base doesnt earn points... only earn points after its carried outside the enemy base radius?
4) or like make a distance-to-own-base related score... like the nearer you carry the flag to ur own base, the higher the score points... maybe start from zero within the base radius. same thing for the person returning the flag... the farther away from his own base, the more points they get

of course im not the perfect person to think of this... cos it seems so complicated to find a working algorithm that can deter relay boosting... without giving a disadvantage to honest players

Even though it was a bug, I rather liked the giant white snow ball of doom, it was interesting to hide in when it was a friendly suit disruptor. That bug should've definitely become a feature in my opinion.

Since you're still collecting feedback about XP changes, my idea still stands. Give points for returning relays but add cooldowns and diminishing returns that makes boosting useless about a minute or two into the match (in both rounds). But for the average player who isn't exactly going to be returning relays every split-second would gain XP as if no change was made in the first place.

The defender/pro players might end up returning the relay more than the average player, but diminishing returns means they'd get /something/ for a higher level of returns than none at all.

Yeah, that was freaking awesome, you should leave that bug alone. :D

Did anyone get a screenshot of this? I was at work all day so missed seeing this bug as I reported the other bugs early and they got them fixed before I got back. I WANNA SEE THE SNOWBALL. xD

In Tron Legacy, at the end when Sam & Quorra are in the Portal, it was like that, huge beams of white light flying around, wow! :D

It wasn't like super giant, but it was really funny, funny during gameplay no one would even get near the crash site from shear fear, lol that rhymes, its still made the screech, just the animation was a pure white dome.

Quickly? I reported about this "boost" month ago. I don`t think this was quick.

PS. there is thousand people who used this "boost" and they all got about 10 000 000 "free XP".

not free cause boosting takes time. Its also better that they actually reacted instead of ignoring it...
