Mj?lnir

Do you think we'll see this unique hammer in Skyrim, or a hammer that resembles Mj?lnir? I think it would be cool and fit in with Skyrim well. This idea was inspired by the movie Thor. I saw it last night, it was pretty good. :goodjob:

Well of course it will fit Skyrim well, but keep in mind this is a completely different universe. I don't want to see it. Maybe a reference if its well hidden. But not the same name or anything.

Haven't seen the movie or much of a superhero guy, but it would be cool as a little easter egg. :spotted owl:

Mjolnir, as I understand it, is typically depicted as a blacksmith's hammer.

Well since Mjolnir is visually just a hammer, the only way a reference would get into the game is if they explicitly gave a hammer that name.

As much as I love Norse mythos, I wouldn't want to see it in TES. The "Nords" of TES have a Norse/Viking aesthetic. They don't actually share the same mythology.

The Spartan-II's armor was named after Thor's Hammer. :nerd:

Perhaps some vague depiction without actually mentioning it. I will however be making some paralysis spell named "gleipnir", what fenris was bound with.

how about just a nord named "thor" wielding a warhammer as a reference?

...he could be a corpse in a cave, having died from a wound given to him by a dragon.

Well the only difference that mjolnir has against a normal black smith's hammer is that it has the Trigon symbol and the fact it has that power of thunder.

I can't tell if the nerd symbol at the end of this means you're kidding and that you realize we actually know where the name originates from.

Nerd symbol meant I felt like nerd when I typed that.

Uhm yeah references is probably a bit much... It is still an Elder Scrolls game, right? Nords are obviously inspired by vikings, but they are not doing a viking game (hopefully).

I guess for those against this, it would just be an easter egg type deal. They have had many easter eggs in previous Elder Scrolls games that referenced various things in pop-culture, mythology, literature, etc. That's what most Easter eggs are, referencing something that doesn't exactly fit in within that game's setting.

To be honest, as cool as the hammer is I wouldn't want to see it in Skyrim. Even though it's heavily influenced by it, real life mythology shouldn't mix with the Elder Scrolls as far as referencing specific things like Mj?lnir. A nice, big hammer that has a chance to release a lightning bolt or chain lightning spell on impact but isn't named Mj?lnir outright would be enough.

Mj?lnir will no doubt be modded in, though.
