[REQ] No loading screen

Is it possible to skip them? It looks to last much more then time really needed to load.

Loading screens aren't arbitrary pauses they threw in for no reason, they're there because your computer is busy physically loading them from your drive to the computers memory. The only way to get rid of them would be to modify EVERY interior location to actually exist in the world, but that wouldn't get rid of the loading screens when you launch the game, which would probably get a good deal longer depending on where you are, it would force a LOT more things to be in memory at a time, causing FPS drops while it tries to process the AI for enemies you normally wouldn't be near, it would be a MAJOR under taking, note that as far as I know, mods like this don't even exist for Oblivion and Morrowind, both of which have been out far longer, and it would be absolute HELL to try and debug a mod on that kind of scale. Not to mention that any other mod-added or DLC area would have to have a compatibility patch made, both to bring them up to the new standard and to ensure that a mod-added door doesn't end up stuck in some wall somewhere. And that's assuming all buildings in the game have the same scale on both the inside and outside

I'm pretty sure that most buildings in the game are larger on the inside.

You can cut down your load time if you defrag your HDD and tweak your game to make better use of your RAM

Loading screen between locations - yes, but that one on game start is fixed time and is 100% useless. And very annoying after 10 time of trying to start game in a row.

Even though the loading screens on game start can be annoying (not that i have to wait long), I was under the impression that your pc is taking that time to load and process the mods that you may have. Which is also why sometimes you won't get past the loading screen if there is a problem with a mod. It'll just CTD.
If there was no start up loading screens i don't think the game would run very well, IMO

Removing loading screens made Mass Effect 2 load much more faster. SSDs can make miracles :)

I guess for some games it's alright. The Oblivion one could be shortened considerably, but I don't think altogether removed. I think that was an .ini edit, though. It was so long ago I don't remember :)

What i don't get, is why there are so many loading "transitions"...
Crimson Caravan for example, You can fast travel from inside Crimson Caravan, to anywhere else on the world map,
but when you fast Travel to Crimson Caravan, you get to look at a loading screen, then you're dumped right outside of Crimson Caravan,
so you have to take two steps forward, and look at another loading screen to actually enter the Crimson Caravan Compound,
(Here's the clincher), now, the place isn't that large, yet, if you go to see the Boss in her office...
BANG, Another Loading Screen....

I mean seriously.....can't some of these transitions be eliminated?

And why didn't they add a fast travel mark to that area in Camp McCarren in the back?
You know, the one where you have to Fast Travel to Camp McCarren, Enter camp McCarren (Loading Screen #1)
Enter the Actual Building (Loading Screen #2) walk to the concourse to go see the guy that sells stuff (Loading Screen #3)
then exit so you can get to that back area (Loading Screen #4)
That place in the back of McCarren is yet another place you can fast travel from, but not to

I downloaded a mod that added much needed fast travel markers for the strip, it was so stupid to have to enter the strip from a gate,
and go through gate after gate after gate to get one of the casinos in the back, or to the NCR embassy.
Especially if you're doing that "Talent Pool" quest or any NCR Embassy Quests.

Heck even the Kings School Fed-Ex Quest where's it's Go to the Mormon fort and talk to Julie,
Julie says "Yes" go tell "The King", that quest line involves 2 transitions in each direction.......

I noticed Bioware does that too......to the point where I just dread taking the quests, because they end
up being a cornucopia of Loading Screens.

I remember someone doing that for Oblivion "Open Cities" I think it was called?
I'm pretty sure someone has already done an "Open Strip" mod, I'm just hoping for a mod for some of the piddly stuff,
like the Fast Travel Marker being moved inside the Crimson Caravan, and the Bosses building being "open"
etc.....a fast travel marker to the 'backside' of camp McCarren......

Thank you.

I knew about the strip mod but, since on a fast PC transitions are a minor inconvenience, I never bothered.

Crimson Caravan and McCarran, though are a total PIA. :spotted owl:

No problem.

The only marker that didn't change is the relatively unknown North Vegas marker, so you'll still spawn just outside the door. But hey, you're only going to need to go into there for what? 3, 4 times?
