Loading Screens

Thx consoles for having shoddy hardware.

Honestly the devs could pull open cities on the PC version within a few days worth of editing the game... :(

their hardware isnt shotty, PC just has better technology and consoles run the game better than a lot of computers, and they will not pull it out for the PC version becuase of the lower end computers that wouldnt be able to run it, just get a mod

Anything's possible, but I would assume it is unlikely unless it is for loading the game itself or for syncing npc routines. These things cause the longest loading times on my computer in any of their games.

That Skyrim still got loading screens

Tell me what massive, open world game, with full NPC schedules and thousands of items that are all fully rendered and can all be manipulated is currently on the market, so I can go buy it right now please.

I think you're free to enjoy googling that yourself ^^

Also, the items rendered are Skyrim really not that many as "thousands". If you look at the trailer, you can see bushes and foilage being rendered at some mere 20-30 meter (or something like that) at the beginning of the trailer when the dragon flies over the forest.

I also think it's kind of fail in logic that Bethesda says that the big deal about their new engine is that it renders everything and has such a big rendering distance, yet you can see this mentioned above in the trailer. And yet there is loading screens for towns and for houses and whatnot.

it may not be becasue of hardware, Radiant AI might cause problems with larger populations if they are in a place that is open. like wandering off, or just getting far away from town enough to bring back enemies into the town that causes chaos.

that just made me think, have any devs said that there are generic npc's that get replaced with a new one if they die?

what about on PC like loading cells for cities will pc gamers have to mod that or will the cities be open on PC.

Also will the game have a 64bit exe that way we can use more ram for preloading cells

If you want to reduce load times for PC, SSDs make a huge difference

I have dual Intel X18 G2 SSDs in my laptop in Raid0 and load times are almost non-existent, 1-2 seconds at most.

No need to. It doesn't exist.

but if you have a large amount of Ram though the information can just be stored on that and it would be a lot faster than pulling it from a hard drive

@hlvr I was referring to the clutter items when I said "thousands". No game has this kind of depth while also being able to engage with every single NPC that also have full schedules.

Shorter load times are better than longer load times simple as that. I want to get a SSD so my load times are as short as possible.

Just think of it like this... no matter what happens, the loading screens wont take as long as Dragon Age 2 ones

I don't see that at all? The mountains in the distance look gorgeous. Anyways, I was referring to clutter items.

I think maybe people have been getting less and less impatient faster than load screens can be shortened. the one time I got over 1 minute load time in MW was because my console crashed. other than that 25-30 isn't really all that long, people spend more time at a red light and it doesn't cut too much gameplay time. I suppose its all relative and different for each person, but I just don't think its a realistic critisism.

Same here. I probably watch it at least 3 times daily since it was released, and I've not noticed that either. Is there a slowed down version on youtube?

I have seen it plenty of times and I saw one instance of LOD and that was the very end and it was a lot farther than 30m
I think you are seeing some of the visual effects on it

30-60 seconds
Somebody should be installing the game to their harddrive, cuts down on load time. I've never had anything longer then 15-25 seconds on my 360 when playing Oblivion.
