local map disappearing help!

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 6:27 pm

In my opinion one of the main selling points of a game like this is the opportunity to explore such a large map, especially when there are unmarked areas such as rockopolis which have rewards for finding them. I'm trying to fill in the overland map on the local map tab so that I can see what areas I have explored, and what doors are available leading to other sub-maps. Every time I bring up the pip-boy to check on the local map, there are large black squares covering areas that I have already investigated, requiring me to walk through area again in order to add it back to the map, sometimes this happens five times in the same spot but usually it happens randomly. I've checked the forums for a solution but stopped looking because my cable internet is worse than dial-up was 10 years ago, dont ask me why. I can't beleive that nobody else is having this problem, so if anyone else is as irritated as I am, or maybe knows how to fix this, please post a reply and maybe if a patch is needed someone will take notice.

Never experienced this on 360. Clear your cache? What platform?

Actually, platform is PC. Specs are Windows x64 Pro, 4GB Ram, and Phenom 2 X4 955. The weird thing is that map shows up all charted out, but then it disappears again later. Any help would be appreciated.

Not to be a thread necro, but I am having the same problem too, and am wondering if there is a fix this?

I am using the Darnified UI. Is it a bug with that mod on the PC?

Wow! So no one knows anything about the black squares? Or is it bug that everyone accepts because nothing can be done to fix it?
