Localized Areas of Body Damage

Post » Mon Sep 19, 2011 8:58 am

Has there been any confirmation that you could damage specific areas on enemies' bodies and if so would they react the way you would think a person would react if they were hit in one certain area of the body?

There is no longer localized damage. Hitting their arm or their head has the same effect.

No, the damage done should reflect our stats and skills and level, not where we hit someone. As long as the damage is shown in some way by a bar or by some stumbles or falls for high damage I'm fine with it.

i want location damage because theres nothing more awkward than shooting a bandit in both legs and in the face and still having them charge at you at Olympic speeds.

I think locational damage is a cool feature to have because it makes fighting
a little harder. You are rewarded if you put in the time to get skilled at it. To
be able to disable them running, or use a weapon/drop it. Then of course,
BOOM HEADSHOOT...got to love that too...

Why can't it be both?

I think they at least could make it so that, if they don't want to go full out
on it, certain areas makes the HP go down much more, i.e. a headshot.

Should be both, but I don't care that it's not in. A mod like http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20163 will come around and give locational damage.

Speaking of stats, should your endurance determine the amount of damage you do or should health? :)

Locational damage would be a great addition to the series, unfortunately, it wasn't able to make it's way into this iteration. Always hope for the TES VI, though. :tops:

These are not mutually exclusive concepts, especially with regards to an action/rpg where the player has full control of their attacks and hits and misses are player-skill based.

Damage is universal. There is no localized damage.

I'm pretty sure I'll still enjoy shooting guards in the forehead with my bow and running of to board the lolercopter as they chase after me, screaming

"Stop right there criminal scum!"

"whatever you say officer unicorn."

they were afraid that you would give up frustrated trying to kill a giant with melee weapons because all you'd hit is their legs :whistling:

this im amazed at all the people that complain that skyrim isnt an RPG an then suggest things that make it less of an RPG.

I'm on the opposite end of the roleplaying spectrum- I'm not a stats and numbers RPer. Having a tactical approach to attacking an enemy makes every fight diverse.

I don't like the idea that my crosshairs would almost always be aiming for the head to achieve maximum potential damage.

I do like the idea of breaking or severing limbs in order to incapacitate opponents. However, if I could do it to them, I would want them to be able to do it to me. It really just turns into a completely different type of game at that point.

It would be foolish to hesitate and disengage close combat to "try to aim for the head" in a real time combat simulation. Strike where you see an opening, and damage the body part accordingly.
