Location of water breathing enchantment?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 6:30 pm

I have been looking for a while to find a ring or a necklace with an enchantment, water breathing. Yes I have that dragon mask, but it's light armor and I want it on the ring. Anyone know the location of an helmet/clothes/ring/necklace that has that enchantment?

I think any item you will be able to disenchant will show up as random magical loot.

I'm afraid not. Quest loot is randomly generated, so it's different for each time you play through.

You can also make potions or learn a spell to breath underwater: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Waterbreathing

As soon as you find an item with water breathing as an enchantment (if it's not a ring like you want), just disenchant it so you can learn the enchantment and then make your own ring for waterbreathing.

DON'T disenchant the Volsung mask though. You will need all 8 named masks + the wooden mask to get the last one.

One more thing......always check all the stores to see what jewelry they are selling. Waterbreathing is a common enchantment for rings. I'm sure you can find on in one of the town's stores eventually.

Fortunately, it's not possible to disenchant Volsung. :bunny:

Soul gems will improve it better. Best one you can have is black soul gem filled. Another thing is that you could do is buy rings/necklaces etc to improve the enchanting better or you could buy potions.

Nightingale and dark brotherhood has that enchantment, but why am I saying that, because you are looking for the same reason like me. To disenchant right?

Yeah I just want to disenchant it to have it. Nightingale and Dark Brotherhood armor is too cool to destroy. ;o;

for personal experience, muffle, and waterbreathing to a much less extent, become incredibly rare at higher levels. i've had more luck at level 10-20 than 50+.

You can't Disenchant those, anyway so you're protected from yourself. I think it's more a quality of construction that gives them their buffs instead of an Enchantment. Plus, you could always replicate them before you disenchant them - like I did with Linwe's stuff.

Edit:

I had a hell of a time finding both of those after 50. :o

I picked up a Dwarven Helmet of Waterbreathing, and Dwarven Boots of Muffling, and I think both were at the Broken Oar Grotto.

Muffling and Water Breathing are two of the rarer enchantments to find because they appear on fewer types of equipment. Both seem to peak in the level 25-35 range and drop off after that. If I want them for disenchanting I start looking for them as soon as I hit 25. Make frequent rounds of all the shops that sell boots, helms, or rings until I find them.

I did discover one pretty good way to improve my chances of finding Water Breathing - create an Argonian character. The random number generator delights in mocking me. :swear:

In the sneak perk tree there is a muffle option therefore you don't have to worry about the muffle items. It's one way to go.

Oh I've already got that, I'd just terribly like to have all the enchantments.

####spoiler### Go to Morven's lair ( spelling?). Be ready for ice mages and a Master Vampire boss fight. I think I killed Morven ( not sure) but did find his boots which benefits muffle by 25.

It's really funny (well, from my PoV it is.... not so much for the rest of you probably) that on my last couple of toons, I get things like Necklace of Waterbreathing and Leather Boots of Hauling on level 5 - 6 from Lucan Valerius (Riverwood Traders) and Adrianne/Ulfberth (Whiterun Warmaidens). Now, I think this is likely a glitch of some sort, because level 5 - 6 toons probably should NOT see those. It's quite nice though - for me.

Truthfully, I find most stuff I want at those two shops. Alvor (smith in Riverwood) occasionally has some good stuff too. But by far the best options for the stuff you REALLY want to buy to DE is Warmaidens and Riverwood Traders.
