Locked chest (Master lock)

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 9:34 pm

I am sorry, maybe its just me but if I go to the trouble of attaining a chest and implement a heavy duty lock I am sure as **** going to put some stuff inside that is worth a crap!

Why is it I find chests that require such skill to be nearly worthless? I unlocked one today and it had 44 gold, a wooden bowl and a iron dagger...WTF really if I didn't have the skeleton key I would have blown through at least 30 lock picks....

If its a crap chest it should be either unlocked or easy to open...just saying

The answer is simple, they spent all their fortunes on the master lock... those things are expensive ya know.

Yeah it means more expensive items are in there but idk if it's random, it depends where you are. Where are you?

You're working off the idea that all chests, in the game world, are hand chosen to have specific items, but that's not the case. Items, in chests, are random, but your current Level and Game Difficulty determines the type of content you may find.

In other words, both you and I, on different characters, go to the same exact chest, in a dungeon. You open it and find nothing, but potions. I open it and find some armor, potions, etc. That's all part of the "Randomly generated" aspect of chests.

Hope that helps make some sense of it all. RNG svcks....

...30. thirty. you shouldn't need more than 3-5 normal picks for that. you can sometimes even get it in 1-2.

Not that lockpick level means anything anyway :(

With my strategy I can crack a Master Lock with 5 lockpicks at level 30 lockpicking, I usually get expert locks in 2 or even 1 lockpick.

I'm a mage for god's sake and I have 70 lockpicks cause I don't use any of them. There really should be a limit on the locks and real loot in the chests. This would make the lockpicking skill tree actually useful.

A lockpicking spell would be awesome too :D.

Yeah...no hyperbole whatsoever, I've never found an item worth keeping in a Master lock. It's always 3 gold, a tankard, and some hide bracers.

My master locked chest finds have ranged from just gold to Daedric items (first item at level 35) and it really is random. I play on Novice, so I'm not sure if it would become more abundant if I put the difficulty up, but I'm usually happy with my finds. Personally, I think master chests are thrown about for you to raise your lockpicking, and since I carry around a couple hundred lock picks at a time, I go ahead and open every one of them. :)
