Locking doors and robberies?

Post » Sun Aug 29, 2010 9:41 pm

Something I'd prefer is just the general ability to lock doors.

Nothing says "Dovahkiin wuz 'ere" quite like leaving someone's front door unlocked...

That's true. What about a spell that will track the person who broke into your house? Like a scroll or something? Or perhaps a person who you can hire to help you find the thief?

I was referring to a desire to be able to lock any door provided you have the means.

Yeah, I just wanted to throw that idea out there without having to wait another minute to post it. Sorry about that.

Just imagine you're locking your door on the way out :P

There was a lock spell in Morrowind, but I don't think it actually had any practical use . . .

i think this is a good idea, i didn't collect a lot of items in oblivon but i had a fair share of things. i think you should get robbed and have to ask the towns people or something like that and then find out where the robber went, track him down and kill him. Getting your stolen items back and maybe finding more unique items that the robber might have stolen from other npc's. Simple as that, it would add something to do when you complete the main quest line. I don't see how hard it could be to lock your door and if you forget it wouldn't be a 100% rob rate, there would be a small chance a robber robbed you. Two thumbs up for the idea

Sure, but only if you risk something bad happening. Otherwise, what's the point?

In another thread, someone mentioned doing quests against the Thieves Guild and/or Dark Brotherhood. I would say being their enemy would be good cause to lock my door, if you get what I mean.

I rather not have to lock my door everytime I go out adventuring. And who in their right mind would rob the Dovakiin?

If you are an enemy of the Dark Brotherhood, I'd imagine a locked door would only amuse them.

Make sure to always return with a sword.

I carry everything I own in game. If my junk level gets too high I sell stuff, consume alchemy items, and toss low value goods. A good portion of the loot I find stays on the body, or in the box.

I don'y have any use for in game houses. I sleep in the camps around the province, after I eliminate the opposition.

But I have wanted, at times, to be able to lock a gate in a dungeon to slow down pursuers. My silent killers are often frail. Perhaps with the new system I will be able to build a stronger character with out having to take skills that do nothing for me but increase my strength.

In the PC there was a lock spell through the console. It was very cool for RPing so I would like this :D

I would like that. It would be cool if the PC is challenged more by powerful NPCs, especially at high levels. It would be cool if thieves or raiders could break into your house out of nowhere, just once maybe.
