[BUG] Lockpicking Bug

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 6:25 pm

Shortly after the start. Within sanctuary and there is a novice suitcase. When interacted the dialogue appears for lock picking but the screen is empty. The lock picking sounds are heard but there is no visual of the pick or the lock or the animation.

I manually set my game to 1600x1200. Works, but Lockpicking is not possible in this mode.

Please add support for resolutions!

I am seeing this issue as well.

The Background fuzzes over.

No bobbi pin, lock or screwdriver are visible.

The audio sounds right.

I am running a 21:9 monitor.

I didn't record the various resolutions I used/attempted.

Medium and Ultra presets, Same outcome.

AMD Radeon R9 200 series 4GB

Catalyst reports drivers as current

Win 7

found multiple locked safe/suitcase.. all the same.

So is this because my monitor to small? Or am I missing some thing? I know that my game is not fitting right but how do I fix this?

Same thing here, using a 19inch monitor running at 1280x1024 using the 5:4 ratio and getting the no lockpick image

But I can hear the sounds

I had success with:

In the options screen.

If I hit RESET and then dont mess with the borderless or windowed mode boxes.

It seems to allow lock picking.

I use the same resolution 1280x1024 and no lockpicking screen for me too. It seems that game is intended only for widescreen monitors. They will probably fix it later, but I'm quite pissed right now. If widescreen is required then put it in the minimum system requirements before you take my 60 euros.

Exactly the same. I had to force the resolution in the INI files.

Come on Bethesda, I don't really want to play until this is fixed.

Same problem here but I just fixed it by turning off borderless windows mode.

But it does force you to use some weird resolution. Does anyone know a console command for unlocking locks - could use that until Beth sorts it out.

Not a bad idea, but then it would mess with levelling.

[censored] it Bethesda, every time with this s**t. Great games, terrible quality control!

Edit: Wow, you can't even type d4mn.

I found a solution at gottabemobile.com. I can't test it at the moment. Please report if it works.

Same problem. Have tried every little "fix" on the net... nothing works. Click on a safe or case, the screen goes fuzzy. I can hear the lockpick, but can't see the minigame.

Same problem here. I've resulted to lockpicking by ear. Was able to unlock 4 chests..But usually I just use tiled key and click on the chest and then type unlock .

But dislike doing that, due its "cheating" but again..such a bug to be present in a game, you would have though they learned something from F3 and NV.

Well I am glad I am not the only one having problems with this. I have to play on full screen because when I go windowed mode it just appreas on the right screen and I can't move the window to my middle screen. I will use the cheat to get the power armor but that is the last time beyond that fallout 4 needs to fix this. I am really angrey I pre ordered fallout. I trusted them to give me a decent product and I get this. This experience will effect my choice to pre order ever again.

My fix was to unplug my old monitor and plug in my widescreen 1080p TV. I think that some older monitor like mine are just are to small maybe. Or they did not put enough settings in the game to allow for this. Anyway I am not great with PC so this worked for now I can pick locks and the game looks a lot better to. So I will go with this for now.

My fix (for 1280x1024) as long as they hopefully fix that issue is:

Change the following in Fallout4Prefs.ini:

iSize W=1280
iSize H=720

...

bFull Screen=1
bBorderless=1

Yes, I know this is vertically streched, but at least u can see the complete HUD and the lockpick-minigame while if you choose iSize H=1024 your HUD will be cut left and right.

cheers
