Lockpicking,Chems

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 8:40 pm

I'm loving Fallout 4 guys, I'm sure I will pump hundreds and hundreds of hours into this game as I did with Skyrim, New Vegas, Fallout 3 and Oblivion before it. But just wondered if anyone thought the lock picking mechanic is just way too easy again?!! And one of the main problems with it, is that they give you too many Bobby pins! Also I seem to have a lot of Chems very fast!

Chems and bobbypins do appear more often then before, as well as the locking picking being a bit easier than before as well. I remember playing fallout 3 and having around 400 hours played with about 200 stimpacks, was nice having so many after so much time spent.

It's not exactly the same.

For example in Skyrim you can open the hardest locks with no skill at all. Just plenty of lockpicks and some trying. Here you cannot attempt lockpicking at all unless you have the perk that allows you to try to open it to begin with.

It doesn't have to be super hard. This isn't a dexterity game but an RPG so someone may have very svcky dexterity IRL and is unable to actually do it but he wants to play a sneaky thief so perks help with fulfilling that fantasy.

Keep in mind this isn't a post-apo simulator game.

PS

Sell excessive chems and that's that

What? Don't sell the chems, cook them and make new ones for XP points! :)

+1.

Psychojet is amazing. Two hits of it and I downed a glowing deathclaw without being hit by it.

That is awesome! I'm not that far gone yet that I met any death claws at all but the XP really helps my progress.

Also, I collect a lot of meat from animals and cook it too since it gives better XP than killing the animals. :)

Of course, yep your right, I do like the fact that you need the required perk now for the type of lock your trying to pick, advanced, expert etc. That's great.
I just wished that it was slightly harder to pick a lock and that the Bobby pins were mostly only findable and not sold by vendors.

I sell all but 10 lockpicks so if i have 11 lockpicks
i just sell the one. Also I end up having a whole bunch of chems and stimpacks untill i run into a tough fight then i end up using about a 3rd of my stimpacks and a bunch of chems in the process.
I jusy spent all night going through the institute fighting synths getting health from water fountains because I ran out of stimpacks.

Cool thanks, I will start to do that! I'm playing on very hard. Wasn't sure on survival....heard mixed things. Enemies take way too many hits, breaking realism/emersion a bit.

Survival is literally the same as very hard but your healing is limited. If you're high level with relevant perks you still one shot most enemies with a headshot.

Chems are very useful, considering that they can buff your stats dramaticallly. Make chems sell the bad ones, and generally make them for the XP. Chems also can be useful in buffing stats for that few extra point.

I have something like 70 pins and 90 stims. Been using food to heal so I'm stacking up (I think I'm level 11).

I wouldn't say that's a lot or too easy.

I find caps are harder to come by and everything is beyond expensive. Built a few water purifies and heal with purified water. I also use it as currency.
