LOD - can't see my SatComm tower in the distance

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:50 am

I'm having issues with a new SatComm tower. I can't see it in the distance.
I'm using satellitefacility01.nif, which has LOD. In the reference window, I checked High Priority LOD.
Still, I can't see the tower in the distance?

Any pointers?

That checkbox doesn't actually make it LOD visible, but flags it for visibility when a new LOD file bundle is generated. I don't remember the procedure right off-hand.

Since there's no easy quick way to do it like Oblivion and TES4LODGEN, you'll probably want the cell grid coordinates on-hand to pick out only what you need.

LOD doesn't quite work that way - you need both the object that has LOD and you need to generate LOD for the wasteland/worldspace around it - which is what uses the object's LOD to generate those distant views that you see.

LODs are generated int data\meshes\Landscape\LOD\"name of worldspace" having the names "worldspace name".Level16.X-16.Y-16.NIF

I recommend checking out the http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php/World_LOD has a page with lots of info on how to generate LOD

I will warn you that generating LOD for the entire Wasteland can take several days up to a week of time while consuming most of the resources of your PC - it is much more painful than it was with TES.

Luck!
