Save yourself some trouble and just kill him and take the keys.
The quest is annoying and offers no real reward, Logan and his friends won't survive. If you must go through the quest talk to the injured powder ganger in Nipton.

I generally try to hit every quest I can, but in this case, I'm kind of inclined to agree. This one was kind of a dud.

Spoiler
This guy basically just sends you every which way to pick up stuff for him, and at the end, makes a half-assed effort to engage you in combat. Even as I was picking up all that stuff for Logan, I was saying to my girlfriend on the couch with me, "I kind of expect this guy to try to kill me after I do all the work for him." And so he did, and so I killed him before he even had his gun fully drawn. Laziest looter/murderer ever. From now on, I'll save myself the trouble of doing his errands and just kill him, get the keys, and pop into the fire station just to fight that big radscorpion and pick up that unique fire axe.

The rad suits are near Nipton, not actually in it. They're in a trunk in a location called the Hidden Supply Cave, which is northeast of Nipton in the hills, across the tracks from the town. As mentioned, your best bet is to talk to the crippled Powder Ganger in the Nipton general store, then follow the quest marker until you discover the cave.

I had a question about this quest as well, don't mean to hijack this thread but it seems silly to start a new thread about the same quest for such a small question. Anyway, I completed the quest and have all of these NCR parts in my inventory that are taged as quest related and I can't drop or sell them. Is there anyplace to get ride of them or do I have to live with 6lbs of parts in my inventory.... (flashbacks to toy rockets, but at least they had no weight).

I believe the wiki says that the parts don't actually weigh anything despite what your Pip Boy says. Otherwise (unless you are playing on PC, presumably), you are stuck with the things.

ug, well paint me frustrated and float me down the river that svcks.... I have no problem with quest related items that can't be dropped as long as there is some way to get ride of them. As far as I know no matter how you ended the quest you'd still have these useless parts in your inventory. Not great if your trying to roleplay and go "light" yet your inventory states your a packmuel with a dozen heavy parts on your back. Aw well....guess I'll just have to makeup some story about why my character insists on carrying them around. Thanks for the info.

To westoftherockies: He's dead now and I hadn't realized that I couldn't sell them or dispose of them in anyotherway...I could reload a save but I hate that irradiated town so much I'd rather keep the parts and pretend they are not there.

I found a book called itty bitty babies, all you need to know about pediactrics or something. I assumed when I picked it up that it was for medicine, but its not usable and its marked as a quest item so I cant drop it. Any ideas?

I too struggled with this quest because I'm vilified by the Powder Gangers and Box Cars in Nipton won't talk to me to continue the quest for the rad suits. So stupidly killd Box Cars (failed some quest) in my fit of rage and then murdered Logan and his henchmen got the keys to Searchlight. Yay for Knock Knock

I met that guy, and agreed to help him but the quest never triggered. I thought it was an unmarked quest and was having problems completing it too. Any way to reset the quest? I'm too far into the game at this point to reload the save where I met him.

If not, then I'm just gonna go back and put a bullet in his head.
