Logically- Talon Company

Post » Sun Mar 07, 2010 2:55 pm

At this point, you would THINK the Talon Mercs would call off their hit on me. I've killed 20 to 50 of their men. Is losing that many men REALLY worth 1000 caps?

They have probably taken it personally but they provide an endless supply of spare parts and valuable ammunition so no complaints here.

True. Playing on very hard = takes a bit of killing, but their gear is worth selling :D

I don't think the Talon Company really care about the death of their grunts -- they're pretty mad and are determined to get the job done. Not that it bothers me -- they're practically handing me ammo and armour for repairs.

They're unified Bounty Hunters. If they see there's a price on someones head, they go and get em. (Try to, at-least.)

The tone of voice they use and the way they speak to the PC makes me feel they're very very arrogant. Which I suppose they'd need to be. My reason for pointing that out is that if they're so cocksure of themselves, they won't care how many of their mates have died trying to take you in, because they'll be thinking YEAH, I'm THE MAAAAN!

Talon Company are sick scum anyway. I mean, you give a few thirsty men a drink, locate a violin for an old woman, and find an orphaned child a new home... and they want to KILL you for this?!

If logic played a part in the regulators or Talon company taking you out they would go all out and keep sending more qualified and better armed men (and rarely women) out to get you and increase the bounty too. That would be nice to see. Imagine dealing with a platoon of Talon grunts (like FWE) with a little better smarts and stolen power armor? Better yet with their own type of power armor.

I like the way they wait for you in a nice little cluster, though... I just whip up the ol' Fatman, send a mini-nuke their way, and then loot their scorched and irradiated remains. And unlike the Wastelanders who are just trying to survive, or the Chinese remnant who are just doing their duty, I don't feel a bit sorry afterwards. They might as well know that this little saint from the vault has big, sharp teeth.

It would be kind of nice if the Talon & Regulators would ramp up their efforts a bit.

Also if they didn't use the same voice actor and dialogue. That's a bit counter-immersive for me. I'm going out of my way to play a completely different type of character and the same snotty guy is after me, just in a different costume.

The Talons do have one of the most awesome flags, though. It's in their mini-HQ flat near Grayditch. I actually did laugh out loud when I saw it.

I never made it over to the Regulators' HQ. Do they have anything similar? It's hard to imagine how they'd have something as funny, but I'd love it if they did.

If logic played a role in it. You'd be able to pay off the Talon Mercs. Like 2000 caps instead of the 1000 the other person offered in the contract

Oh, yeah, that'd be a great dialogue option:

* Can we talk this out?
* Well, what are you waiting for?
* Whatever he's paying, I'll double it if you bring me his head.

Of course, then you wouldn't get all the lovely combat armor, Chinese rifles, and laser weapons that they conveniently leave behind when they depart this earth.

Quite simply, I love looting their corpses and making a profit from there stupidity. Also, the Talon Company is useful for their looted armor, usually they have some good armor...

I don't think it's that Talon Company who actually want to kill you; it's someone else putting a bounty on your head. The Talon Company just have no problem doing the deed.

There just a constant supply of armor and weapons.
They need to make them at least a little bit more to kill.....
After a while they just get plain annoying.

If you're referring to the one in Junkyard, thats not theirs. It belongs to Littlehorn & Associates.

He just tends to hire Talon Company since their mercs. (If you take the Contract Killer Perk, you can work for him too.)

It is kinda awkward if you have Good Karma and work for him though. Why would an employer hire a hit on his own man?

I'm guessing its the dude you talk to when you get the contract killer perk Daniel Littlehorn.

Is Littlehorn an essential character, or can you give him a much-deserved helping of high-velocity lead with plasma sauce?

Talon must have operations headquarters stationed out of the wasteland. And pretty lucrative contracts.

I've killed maybe four or five hundred of their mercs, I've come through and annihilated BOTH of their CW outposts, and yet they still come at me. Though at least they pose a challenge, They tend to pack AA12 and Saiga 12 shotguns, which can kill me in about 5 or 6 seconds. At level 30.

Edit: Uhh guys...you can blast Littlehorn to your heart's content.

Infnite caps exploit perhaps? Blast --> recover ear from him --> wait --> he wakes up --> sell him his own ear --> repeat

Why would someone with good karma work for a bastard such as Littlehorn anyway? I know, it is a game and it is technically possible to do it. But I tend to not do things my character wouldn't do.
