MP Login Connectivity Workarounds

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 3:52 pm

If you have the problem where you try to login and it fails and says there is a problem with your connectivity, try this. Haven't seen this posted yet so I'm putting it out there.

1. Navigate to Network and Sharing Center.
2. Select "Change Adapter Settings" in the left pane.
3. Right click on your active connection and select properties.
4. Click on the "Sharing" tab at the top and deselect "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection.

This worked for me and has worked ever since. If this is already out there, sorry for wasting your time :D.

-----------------------------

Alternate Fix:

this method has not worked (for me). So I crawled deeper into the problem and found where it sits. Everything is connected with the service ICS. After much suffering I've gone from the reverse and turned off the service of ICS. Wow let me log in! To do this: Click Start-> Control Panel-> Administrative Tools-> Services-> Default view-> search (Sharing internet connection (ICS)) click on "turn off"
Everything is fine but all the computers in the network are left without the internet (as long as this service is turned off). Service can be enabled again when you enter a multiplayer mode. I checked 5 times when the service is enabled game reports: "An error has occurred. Check your network connection" when service is turned off in the game admits.
Network diagram I have the following: the main computer (mine) to him through the switch are connected notebooks, I share them internet. Internet itself works for me through the VPN connection (connection is done through a local network provider). As a result, I have 2 local connection (1 provider, 1 home), a VPN connection (the Internet on a specific tariff) in the system is respectively 2 network cards.
Forgive sorry for bad english, I'm from Russia and just learn it at Technical University 4 course:-D
I hope I have helped you.

doing that will cause more trouble than it will fix especially if people use routers.

Unless this specific computer is used as a gateway for others in the network, no it wont cause any problems. And setting specific computers as gateways is extremely unlikely since a router acts already as a gateway for others.

All this fix does is disable internet connection sharing aka ICS, only useful if you, lets say have two network cards and want to connect your 360 or PS3 through the second network card.

omg! what kind of "fix" is that?
i bet the next FIX will be "throw your PC out of a window and go buy a console" - that will fix everything right ? :)

No but if we can confirm that this issue is related to ICS then that gives a smaller range of causes of the issue for us to work on and fix.

ok, sry for trolling but i don't really think this sounds like a fix. sounds like 1 player problem. i bet 90% of players who are complaining about this issue doesn't have ICS enabled.

Might want to add that I did try this out just after release (found it on some other forum) and Crysis 2 can't connect to the internet at all when activated.

That's my experience from this workaround.

Edit: I misread the OP. Actually I too have to deactivate the sharing (not that I had it activated in the first place). However, this does not stop Crysis MP from killing the router (lamps do not show the disconnection) and disconnecting every computer using that router from the internet.

As feedback, ICS is not set up on my Win764 system (thus no sharing tab), and DMZ and extensive careful port forwarding/triggering do not change anything.

It is very consistent that if I can get INFO on a server, then I can JOIN it. However, one session I can connect just fine with a FAVORITE or RECENT server, then the next session no...

The reason for all this lies in the Windows x64 bit. Because on the same copy of windows (laptop) x86 game admits to login. Internet is the same, except that the laptop connects to the Internet via LAN on the main computer. The problem may lie in the VPN connection ...
Hi @ll ,
for those who have this "...check your Internet connectivity" problem. When this problem appears take a look at the windows command and type "ipconfig". By myself i found hundred of messages like this

Tunneladapter LAN-Verbindung* 13:

Verbindungsspezifisches DNS-Suffix:

and so on! in The Device manager i had a lot of this stuff too. But you have show klick on "show hidden devices"

Then searched the web & found this

http://www.ryanvictory.com/posts/automating-6to4-adapter-removal-in-windows/
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/980486

I removed all the stuff and disabled Internetprotokoll Version 6 "TCP/IP v6

This so far seemed to solve my problem! I hope it will last!

EDIT
Sad to say it doesn't last!! Tonight the problem appears again!! You can delete this post

Wasn't trying to make your solution look bad I was giving feedback for Crytek so they know it doesn't resolve the issue for all of us.

I managed to get on several servers yesterday. The trick was to look at the servers and wait 5 min until the internet gets back up running. Then I could get info / join several servers. I had to do this each time I went out of the serverbrowser.

Just piping in that disabling ICS was what was giving me my errors, both with the demo and the release. Thankfully I determined this a couple of days after release, and have been fine since.

But like has been said, it's a workaround. I can't fathom why ICS should be a problem.

This is getting ridiculous. They are stickying any thread that is a work around. RELEASE SOME DAMN PATCHES! Are you kidding me. A month in the game and its still at beta stage. Cry-Adam, you may want to actually report this to someone who actually knows what is going on. Tired of these work around threads. Fix your **** game.

Just bought the game today and can't log on to the network either, My network is fine or I wouldn't be typing this stupid Forum complaint. If there wasn't a log on problem we wouldn't be here. Guess it's back to Battlefield till they get their S**T together and fix it. I hate getting a new game and the game is really good but teh support isn't or they seem to take forever fixing something like Logging onto the game..dah...!
