Logitech Headset G430 7.1 issue

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 4:11 am

Someone else having problems with 7.1 surrond sound (the headset use an USB adapter, not plugs on sound card) ?

In Fallout 4 I can hear sound just from right channels, I can barely something in left channels and from time to time, noises (very low audible distorted sound)

???

Although it shouldn't have to be done a temporary fix until Bethesda figures this one out is too remove the mic and sound components from the USB adapter and plug them in manually. The right centered

audio should go away

Well, I solved my problem.

I hade to replace the headset with a new one.

After that problem, I checked the properties for headset, and... 7.1 sound test failed for surround. No sound.

Then, I tried to change the USB port and reinstall Gaming Software... Well, 7.1 setting in properties gone, just stereo sound. No way to have 7.1 back.

So, I had to buy a new headset.

Just adding another with this issue, and a confirmation of the workaround. All the while you use the USB sound card the music and menu sounds are in the right ear, whereas other effects are stereo. Plugging in via the jack fixes the issue.

Interestingly, the firmware provided on the headset worked fine in stereo with the USB sound card, though surround wasn't available in Windows' audio controls. Updating the firmware enabled surround but broke Fallout 4.

Windows 7 Pro 64-bit here.

Upon further investigation this issue seems to only affect menu sounds and music...the rest of the game effects seem to work fine.
