TO MODERATORS: This is not meant to be an ad, but if it needs to be moved, locked or deleted, I understand.

Was browsing the Internet and happened upon this...they may not take CAPS, but it would be fun to have.

A few years back there was a show on History channel called Doomsday Preppers, that showcased people who built their own fallout shelters, and those who built fallout shelters as a business model.

Around the time of Fallout 3, there was also a reality show about building a settlement in a "post apocalyptic" scenario, but it was so heavily scripted it made my teeth hurt.

Former shelters make interesting homes. Subterranean missile silos also get sold as houses sometimes. Lemme see if i can...

I have a friend that works for a construction company that did some work for a developer in an old Minuteman silo in western Kansas being remodeled and sold to doomsday preppers. Very sketchy deal.

I think the Government bunker under the Greenbrier Resort in VA is fascinating! It was actually an active Government fallout shelter until 1992.

So, exactly how many sets of steak knives have they promised you for pushing their product on the unsuspecting masses?

Seems to be missing the most important information. How many meters is between the surface and the house and is there an elevator? There is no guarantee that the staircase is an accurate representation since having a 500 meter staircase would ruin the diagram.

This is the future in housing. There is only three choices for housing on Earth, expand out which destroys more and more environment for places for us to live, expand up which can mess up the weather systems, or expand down. Unless there is an underground world that we have no clue about, then it is our only option for staying on Earth.

Switzerland has enough fallout shelters for its entire population.

Apparently true:

Neat. I'm going to go buy it now.

*writes check for $17.5 million*

This place is sweet. You're all invited to a Fallout themed party at my new place. Complimentary Vault Suits will be provided at the door.

You missed the biggest one... Cities deep in the ocean... After we figure out how to not explode from pressure deep down. I for one would love to live in a BioShock/gungan type city.

The biggest problem with underwater cities is the effect a disaster or waste has on the ocean. Unless the city is a completely closed system, then environmental damage is going to happen.

With an underground city, the only environmental problem would be due to stupidity like throwing waste into an aquifer. Plus you are free to expand for kilometers in almost any direction.

Two things caught my eye.

1. it's located in my wife's home town.

2. the qualified for VA home loan link above the price tag. Sorry but no way the VA is going to approve a home loan for 17.5 mil.

I live in the DC area, and its pretty much been confirmed that things like that are being built int the wealthy counties surrounding the capital. No contractors have been willing to give specifics as to who or where, but they have confirmed their existence.

actually, you would be compressed, not exploded. But anyhow, I think simple dome structures could be built, but that's about it

That's if you come up too fast without exhaling I believe. As the air expands you would burst

I'm going to speak on a hunch... just a hunch. If someone wanted to advertise a 17.5 million dollar home to it's intended customer base Bethesda video game forums would not be part of the process.

Social media is bigger than demographic markets and the corps know it. They use it to reach their new intended audience.
