Lone Wanderer in Fallout 4

Could find the armored vault suit somewhere (since regardless of what you actually wore in FO3, you were in the armored vault suit in cinematics)

Exactly stuff like that
you got it dude

I wouldn't be suprised to see your character from F3 referenced to some extent in Fallout 4. I mean, that's something that's already been done in Fallout 2, at least (what with you being the Vault Dweller's descendant and wearing his/her old Vault Suit, listending to Harold talking about seeing him, etc...)

Heck, you could even have your character from Fallout 3 make an appearance in the next game, if they really felt like doing it. (The simplest way being a series of questions asked of the player, a la KOTOR 2, to find out the gender of general karmic level of your character.) I wouldn't bet on something like that, though.

I suppose the Capital Wasteland being so far behind the west coast is a huge gaping plot hole, but that's another discussion for another time.

Actually I recall reading an interview with one of the devs a long time ago who addressed the issue of why the East Coast is far behind the West Coast; I don't recall where the interview was or who said it so please excuse the lack of these specifics.

Basically what was said was that the East Coast had been hit much harder than the West/Middle US territories and that the bulk of the people who lived in the Capital Wasteland were descendants of those who had migrated into the area well after the West Coast had begun reconstruction.

As far as Fallout 4 it might continue Interplay's trend of being a generation after the previous game or it might not. I think it would be cool to hear about your old PC's current exploits via rumors/news/gossip if it takes place a short time after F3 or read about the old PC's exploits in history books or becoming modern day legends from old timers and such if it takes place a considerable time after.

Thing is, it's inconsistent with the level of destruction you can see in the game. Just compare buildings leveled to the ground in Boneyard and pretty much intact ones in Capital Wasteland.

I hope you continue playing as the lone wanderer in FO 4 and here are a few suggestions

#1 Start Prologue in D.C but you find a vehicle ,a motorcycle would be [censored] ,but then use it to go to a new city hopefully NYC
#2 Romance subplot with Sarah Lyons or Reilly if your male don't know who to pick if your female and have kids and your kids appearance depends on how you look like with your dad
#3 More Houses ,those are awesome and you'll need them if you have kids
#4 Player character voice over like mass effect
#5 Entrepreneur feature like fable 2 maybe
#6 more followers including the ones you already have

Anybody else have any suggestions ?

And this is why I believe devs rarely read our suggestions.

Exactly the West Coast looks far more ruinous than DC does, so it's still a plot hole.

or maybe like meet the lone wanderer as an old man in a side quest,

They could take a page out of ME2 and if you have a Fallout 3 save they could read some data from it, mainly appearance and a couple of major plot decisions. Make the LW look like your character and let you talk about a couple of things he did.

That's not what a plot hole is.. anyway, this isn't the 'destroyed buildings' thread. ;)

It can be called a plot hole, or you can call it an inconsistency or just plain poor design. Either way it makes absolutely no sense.

In a 3D game it makes perfect sense. Having everything be flat is not compelling gameplay. It's monotonous and boring. It kills the thrill of exploration. But again, this is not the flat or not flat building thread. It's about the LW. ;)

Going through tedious subway systems is far worse, and on top of that it's extremely inconsistent with the setting and developer claims, but you're right about us going a bit too off topic here so I'll leave it at that.

Dig the forum and you shall find. Mine could be tons better but it still wouldn't matter, there are thousands of posts in the suggestions thread, devs won't/can't go through them all.

What's tedious is this never ending argument. I find the terrain in FO3 far more interesting then the terrain in FO1/2. I find that the level od destruction in FO3 is just about right from a playability point of view.

Yeah, by that time, The west coast would be basically fully reestablished. Back to the pre-war state.

I think it would be cool to take it back to the old FOs and have it around the NCR or something like that? Maybe the BOS had grown tired of being a second class muscle organization in the NCR, and is now fighting the NCR Rangers etc. for top muscle organization? (I've never played FO1-2, but I do know someone who has, and they've told me about them. And also I've looked up NCR and BOS factions on the Wiki, so that's where I'm getting this idea from. :D)

And maybe just have it be set around 2283 or something still fairly close to when FO3 was rather than several decades later.

Not necessarily, there are plenty of buildings which are shown to be standing considerably high. In the original Fallout you can see some very high buildings remain throughout Necropolis and huge skyscraqers are seen still standing pretty high in the intro movie of Fallout: Tactics.

I know, I know, you'll probably say that Fallout: Tactics is non-canon or something to that effect. Nonetheless Necropolis has huge buildings which can be seen both in Fallout's intro movie and in Necropolis' load map screen. I'm sure the same can be said of other cities, even perhaps in Washington DC where anti-missile defense systems might have deflected too many direct hits. I checked out some pictures of Hiroshima and I can see structures similar to the Capital Wasteland still standing in some areas.

Still the statement was more regarding the fact why the Eastern Seaboard is less developed than the West. Even if Washington didn't sustain many true direct hits, the concentration of radiation might have killed everyone in that area while perhaps other Eastern areas where hit much more directly.

I think the explanation that the people in the Capital Wasteland having migrated in from other areas such as mid-eastern states is reasonable enough to explain the lack of civilized progress storywise. Naturally the practical, non-ingame, reason that the Capital Wasteland is less advanced is because Beth wanted the game to reflect the look closer to the original Fallout which was more desolate than Fallout 2 where progress had developed for just around a century.

In any case back on topic, I think there may be a possibility to at least hear about previous protagonists both in New Vegas and Fallout 4. Of course in F4 it depends where exactly the game will take place, given that communication across vast distances should still be fairly limited. The best one could hope for would be to hear about the LW or CO from a traveller who was there during those events or if radio stations such as GNR manage to extend their signals with repaired towers.

The biggest problem I could see with talking about the LW or even her or his current doings is that any news would either be wrong or trivial. "The LW, who either did or didn't kill everyone, has opened a new trading post" isn't what I need to hear from 3 Dog's granddaughter to remember my character.

Hard to talk about the exploits when the character may or may not have even visited many of the FO3 locations, may or may not have blown up Megaton, so any references to him or her would have to be so vague as to be meaningless. And, again, what the LW is up to now (or did after the end of FO3 and prior to FO4) would feel wrong if a bad character was talked about as being good or vice-versa.

edit: typo

Well I'm sure that by 2400-2500, the Lone Wanderer would be dead. Unless for some reason he really is superhuman, and somehow beat "The Grim Reaper". Haha
