Lone Wanderer in Fallout 4

Post » Wed Aug 25, 2010 4:43 am

I hope you continue playing as the lone wanderer in FO 4 and here are a few suggestions

#1 Start Prologue in D.C but you find a vehicle ,a motorcycle would be [censored] ,but then use it to go to a new city hopefully NYC
#2 Romance subplot with Sarah Lyons or Reilly if your male don't know who to pick if your female and have kids and your kids appearance depends on how you look like with your dad
#3 More Houses ,those are awesome and you'll need them if you have kids
#4 Player character voice over like mass effect
#5 Entrepreneur feature like fable 2 maybe
#6 more followers including the ones you already have

Anybody else have any suggestions ?

I honestly doubt we'll be playing as the Lone Wanderer in FO4.

Traditionally, each game in the Fallout series has a different protagonist.

So we might hear of his exploits, but we won't meet or play as him.

It's not a Bethesda tradition either, though I wouldn't mind personally.

Seems like they decided to send the Lone Wanderer to do some space exploration. :P

So I doubt we'll see him.

:shakehead: The same protagonist would never work in a future Fallout game. It's too much greatness for one person, and starting out in the game as the previous protagonist would be tricky because everyone's lone wanderer is different in previous games. Also, starting out as famous wouldn't make sense. It just wouldn't work.

If Bethesda does follow the same trend that Interplay used for its originals, then the protagonist of Fallout 4 would be the descendant of the Lone Wanderer; seeing as the protagonist of Fallout 2 was the great-grandchild of the original Vault Dweller.

If Bethesda follows its own traditions such as in the Elder Scrolls series, then the protagonist of Fallout 4 will have absolutely no relation to the Lone Wanderer. But if they do it this way then they can do what they did in Oblivion which was set about a decade (Give or take a few years) after Morrowind and in Fallout 4 you can hear about what the Lone Wanderer is doing right now, seeing as it has only been a few years and the LW would still be fairly young and capable of either adventuring still or at least settling down to impact the Capital Wasteland as some sort of leader somewhere.

Either way I think it would be nice to hear from both the LW (If you aren't related to him/her) and maybe get a newsflash or 2 about what the Chosen One is up to. Then again they might not have any relationship to the previous protagonists at all.

Whoever he/she is, I actually hope they doesn't start in a vault.

I'd rather be someone FROM a vault, who's found stumbling through the wastes and brought to a Megaton type town which would serve as the tutorial area.

The olden heroes always disappear in Bethesda's RPGs. Eternal Champion > Imperial Emissary > Nerevarine > Champion of Cyrodiil

Same is likely to happen to FO4.

Fallout games are generally set a generation apart at least.

Fallout is set a generation before Fallout: Tactics, which is set a generation before Fallout 2, which is set a generation before Fallout 3. The Lone Wanderer may (or may not) be alive during Fallout 4, but don't count on seeing let alone playing as him or her again.

But if they do it this way then they can do what they did in Oblivion which was set about a decade (Give or take a few years) after Morrowind

The time gap between TES games is generally small. Oblivion was only set five years after Morrowind I believe (I remember reading that somewhere), and I think the time gaps between Arena and Daggerfall, and Daggerfall and Morrowing are even smaller.

7 years between Morrowind & Oblivion. Arena - Daggerfall - Morrowind is around 20 years each, IIRC.

FO3's "200 years" is, of course, ludicrous and makes me wonder whether it's not a misprint.

It wouldn't matter anyway since you customize the protagonist yourself.

Fallout 3 is set about 36 years after Fallout 2 (Fallout 2 - 2241, Fallout 3 -2277). It's set 200 years after the bombs dropped sure, but that's only ludicrous if you're trying to apply real life science to Fallout which is futile. I suppose the Capital Wasteland being so far behind the west coast is a huge gaping plot hole, but that's another discussion for another time.

No not make it like those games just additional features to make it the best game and the best story around

also mass effect is a league all its own and fable 2 is good but not in the same league as ME or FO just look at the character faces

^^ this... if we were gonna play as him i would just ask for another dlc...

or maybe like meet the lone wanderer as an old man in a side quest, such as you travel to (somewhere) and the lone wanderer has a collection of stuff from f3, but he can't be talked to... and he would be hostile... or like find him dead... or something like that

It wouldn't make sense for you to play the same character since different people made different characters. If you could import a character it means the FO4 character system can't be modified or balanced in any meaningful manner.

Starting at level 30 also makes it difficult to advance, by the end of Fallout 3 it's easy to have your SPECIAL attributes and your skills maxed out, and you can take on extremely powerful enemies. If the 'low level' enemies of FO4 are comparable to the strongest enemies of FO3 then there are few options for tough enemies in FO4 that make any sense.

Could find the armored vault suit somewhere (since regardless of what you actually wore in FO3, you were in the armored vault suit in cinematics)
