Lone wolf or no?

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2015 12:00 pm

I was a lone wolf in Fallout 3. With Skyrim, I tended to run around with a companion more often than not, but still ended up being a lone wolf most of the time. Depending on what types of followers we have and what their dialogue is like, I might actually try to keep a friend close for my play through. That said, if some of what I've seen is correct, there is a nice perk for the lone wolf players...

I'll probably end up mixing it up moreso in FO4 than I ever have before.

I always had friends with me in Fallout 2, so I likely will here too.

I will do most of my first run without companions, even Dogmeat. It won't vibe with my slow-paced, anolytical sniper play. When I get some views of the AI and some mods come out, will play a high charisma character.

Lone wolf here, I even played Fallout Tactics like that. The only way I'll have a companion is if they offer funny in-party banter like recent DA2 & DAI games.

Depends on A) How dumb the AI is and b ) if any of the characters are actually interesting

I play stealth most of the time, sniper, mines, knife and silenced pistol so having dumb companions isn't really suitable for my style

Yeah, I loved having Boone or Cassidy (to a lesser extent Raul) along for the commentary and story. If the AI is half acceptable, I may pick up someone I find interesting.

Like Cynical above, I will be lone wolf most because I play sniper, and am very methodical in approaching things. I have used companions in the past on a limited basis, so part of it depends on NPC AI. I used the slave woman you can buy in Paradise Falls in 3 when I did a play through as a slaver, but mostly went it alone.

I almost always go Lone Wolf. But i always bring my canine companion (cyborg or real). But i dont think I will be bringing any humanoids for my first playthrough. Or maybe I will? It all depends in the characters I guess.

It's actually hard for me to say. I'll just have to see how well the companions fit into my play style. I'll most likely Lone Wolf it.. but if the companion a.i. is decent then I might mix it up a bit.

It will depend entirely on the character. Some of my more social characters will want to travel with companions, other characters will want to go it alone.

I'll wander alone, though I might bring the dog along in a playthrough sometime

Mix it up... sort of. My first playthrough will be a solo stealth character. My second playthrough will be some sort of high action build (likely full on explosives), I'll probably grab a companion at that point. Part of it will be forced just so I can see how the companions work this time around (how well does the AI work, how chatty are they).

Depends on the difficulty and if I like the companions.

Fallout nv very hard difficulty max level I always had trouble with the legion assassins solo so I would have ede and a companion with me.

Doing a new play through where I plan to piss off both legion and ncr. I may try solo for a bit but I may end up getting a companion or two.

i been torn apart about this, i dont think i will grab the perk, but i want to use the dog.

On the other Bethesda game (fallout and ES) i never use companions bc AI, but the leak vid and the new info, it look like i maybe end using companions this time around.

I have played with companion in FO3 and New Vegas - sometimes they just get in the way if I am playing stealth

For the first play through it will be

Me and man's best friend

Boone's ability to highlight distant targets was huge, but he ran off into trouble too often.

The AI will decide how I go. If I can get them to follow my lead and stay behind me- sure. I need the mule and distraction they provide.

If they go blast happy when trouble is near- they can stay home.

I play enough games where I'm alone. It's boring. Going to have followers...maybe all of them once an unlimited follower mod comes out.

Early on in the game, I like to keep companions around because I use them as pack mules. Later on however, when I don't need to loot a lot of items, I venture alone.

Might do a play through alone and one with companions with me, but in fallout i prefer to go at it alone for the most part.

Most of my characters will be lone wolves (can you pluralize lone wolf?). I'll play a few characters who use companions but I mostly enjoy heading into the waste by myself.

Almost always lone wolf. I tend to do things slowly and methodically and AI companions tend to get in the way of that more often than not. I may be more apt to pick up companions if there's more to do with them than just bring them into combat, though. I liked having the housecarls and spouses to come back to in Skyrim (even if they weren't always the best company) so I'd like having companions that get involved with stuff like the settlements and stick around there for me to come back to after a venture out into the wastes. Exploring and fighting will almost definitely be done solo, though.

I'm going to try bringing companions with me. If they stay is a matter of how they behave. For instance, in NV, anytime I brought ED-E and Boone into Vault 34 they would constantly go in and out of combat because of the ghouls. Made it tedious and annoying.
