Lonesome Road Achievements

I can't believe people are complaining that the Courier looks like being given a very minimal backstory. Would I guess right if I said that many are the same pundits who laud the game for it's storytelling prowess?

How are you supposed to have any sort of meaningful confrontation without Ulysses without some backstory?

Do you think we will be able to take ED-E with us in the Divide?

Nah. It's probably utilized in the same fashion that Elijah's last words are used with Veronica. You probably just gain new dialog options to upgrade ED-E.

undetonated warheads in the Divide, very odd, since I was expecting a place torn apart by hurricanes now it looks like the Divide will hold warheads which you apparently have to detonate.

[INTELLIGENCE 7] What does this All Mean?

[CHARISMA 6] And how come there are no mentions of Ulysses in the Achievements? These achievements almost made me forget about the other courier, the courier we supposedly have a battle with at the Divide :foodndrink: :obliviongate:

He went to the big empty asking philosophical questions iirc. He also dislikes NCR and legon. Maybe we spend the dlc stopping him from starting WW3 with the nukes he found. We see enclave still play a role. Maybe the enclave are weakened and plan to bring other civilisations down so they can get a foothold ?

I am interested in this dlc. Now the wait feel even longer.

I liked having ED-E because he would give me enhanced perception, he would like, sing before a battle. It was very nice. But I don't like companions, because if I try to sneak by they attack. :unsure2:

And they steal your kills.....get in the way of your kills....and annoying like "bla bla bla....I want to talk. bla bla bla. I have a quest . pay attention to me I'm special to you."

It's like...shut the hell up...your only with me cause I want that shiny power armor.

Anyone else notice under the achievement 'Warhead Hunter' the description requirement is to detonate all of the warheads in the Divide? DOES THAT MEAN WE GET TO BLOW [censored] UP?! I hope so...

ED-E has an unknown story and I'm looking forward to learning more. There have only been hints at it so far in the main game. Yes, this was a little spoilerish but it's ok. He's one of my favorites. Thanks.

I agree I hope this will tell us something about where we were born or your family because those are things you don't chose even in real life.

here's a quick question: is the courier shooting a new weapon in the picture for the achievement Warhead Hunter?

We hardly know anything yet, just remember that the Courier coming from the divide is just speculation. I wouldn't mind if he did have a hometown considering every other protagonist from the previous games had a hometown.

A backstory that maybe involved telling us that we delivered a package that affected Ulysses in some way (a scenario that would make sense with the existing dialogue) would be fine, but making it so we actually came from the Divide is just too far IMO, especially when Josh Sawyer said that the Courier's past has nothing to do with anything and the game has been a blank slate for all of this time. It just ruins detailed roleplaying. However, we still don't know for sure if this is the case (for all we know, Ulysses comes from the Divide), so I'm not totally pissed yet.

Precisely. My characters already have a detailed backstory and a place of origin in my mind, and having another one enforced upon them in Lonesome Road would completely ruin their story. Therefore, I'm with looloolooigotsomeapples in hoping that's not the case.

Well here's an idea, pretend something different is happening. Pretend that Ulysess is saying something else. Your alreay making up your own story so make up what happens in-game too. I mean you technically aren't in control of the way your character speaks and what his dialouge is either.

Not the case at all; I make my own private stories fit with the events and dialogue in the game, and that works precisely because the Courier is a blank slate from the beginning.

Just saying, I prefer not to make some contrived excuse for my guy being in Goodsprings or being called Courier all the time. I start where I want.

Which is okay, if that's your style of playing; nothing wrong with that. I however enjoy immersing myself in the RP side of the game, making decisions based on my character's personality, background and motivations, working to make them fit with the various events throughout the game. It's what I like about the freedom of choosing the Courier's background, and why I'd be disappointed if they suddenly took it away from us in the final DLC. I know others prefer having a given backstory, I'm just expressing my own feelings on the matter.

I don't bother creating solid backstories. Why? Because my courier was shot in the [censored] head just like everybody else's. If my courier had a story prior to that pivotal moment in his existence, then I'm all for having it written for me. Why? Because it doesn't mean a gd thing. My courier's life didn't really start until he woke in Doc Mitchell's house.

I think I'm more shocked that people are shocked the Courier ISN'T a blank slate. That seemed clear to me the very first day I spoke to Johnson Nash.

I wish that the Courier had amnesia and lonesome road told you who you really were. That would make the dlc really interesting
