Lonesome Road Achievements

More upgrades for ED-E? Sweet, I practically always use him instead of Rex this playthrough. Maybe I can have the upgraded armor now even though I already chose the upgraded laser instead.

Some kind of "rocket" weapon? That's upgradeable, no less? Even sweeter. I do so love nuking them from orbit. Maybe this means I don't have to bring Annabelle after all?

Detonating warheads? Hum. Now I'm hoping that Elijah's big question to the Think Tank wasn't just "where can I get some nukes." That would be kind of lame.

I wish that the Courier had amnesia and lonesome road told you who you really were. That would make the dlc really interesting

People don't really like being told who they are. I think that's why the team decided not to go with the whole Amnesia thing. The way they are doing it at the moment is good if you ask me.

I think I'm more shocked that people are shocked the Courier ISN'T a blank slate. That seemed clear to me the very first day I spoke to Johnson Nash.

I'm sure Elijah's question was "what can change the nature of man?" or something like "where lies inside the sierra madre?"

Elijah came asking for tech, Ulysses came asking for philosophical answers. Elijah probably asked things along the lines of "what did your research produce" or "what happened to this hologram technology I read about," whereas Ulysses supposedly asked "what makes and breaks nations?"

Oops, I mean Ulysses' question, not Elijah's question.

Yeah, Ulysses' question was supposed to be something about "what makes and breaks nations," as Longknife said. Thing is, Mobius draws a distinction between Elijah, who just wanted power, and Ulysses who seemed to want something more... and was therefore more dangerous.

What I'm trying to say is, if it turned out that the answer to Ulysses question was "nukes," that would be pretty disappointing. Ulysses trying to build a nation with nuclear weapons wouldn't all that much different from Elijah trying to build a nation with poison gas missiles and armies of killer holograms.

So hopefully those warheads are either just a sideshow, or else they're part of Ulysses' answer but not all of it.

Again, there are ways to give a low impact backstory without giving us our damn birth place. Like the example I gave, delivering a package that changed Ulysses' life. All that confirms is that the Platinum Chip wasn't their first job. What's really annoying if the Divide is where the Courier came from is that Chris Avellone himself says he prefers leaving it open for the player.

I'd laugh if you were descended from Kimball, Caesar, House and Benny!

House had a pre war child, and his descendant had intercourse with bennys ancestors who joined NCR and had a one night stand with kimballs dad who put out to Caesar when Caesar was only 16!

I don't bother creating solid backstories. Why? Because my courier was shot in the [censored] head just like everybody else's. If my courier had a story prior to that pivotal moment in his existence, then I'm all for having it written for me. Why? Because it doesn't mean a gd thing. My courier's life didn't really start until he woke in Doc Mitchell's house.

Which is okay, if that's your style of playing; nothing wrong with that. I however enjoy immersing myself in the RP side of the game, making decisions based on my character's personality, background and motivations, working to make them fit with the various events throughout the game. It's what I like about the freedom of choosing the Courier's background, and why I'd be disappointed if they suddenly took it away from us in the final DLC. I know others prefer having a given backstory, I'm just expressing my own feelings on the matter.

I repeat my self in saying there is no reason to believe Hometown Hero actually refers to the Courier being from The Divide.

If I recall correctly, there is a line in Honest Hearts, when speaking to Joshua Graham, where the Courier can ask what is at the divide. This implies ignorance of the Divide, and I don't think it is simply ignorance of the term. Graham gives a basic description of its geographical location, so the Courier would at least be able to say 'I'm from up that ways' or 'I've traveled around there' or something, but s/he doesn't.

Think about the term 'hometown'. Yes it can mean the place you were born, but also there is the term 'hometown USA' which comes out of that 50s idealism. Considering Ulysses, let us say, 'obsession' with the old world the name of the achievement fits with that theme. "Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it"; not only about the old world but fits the theme of 'war never changes'. Rockets Red Glare is a line from the USA's national anthem, again the old world.

This is a good point. However, in one of the OWB holotapes, Ulysses does say that we "know the way", doesn't he?

Getting shot in the head can potentially damage ones short and long term memory if one survives.

As excited as I am, I don't expect to be seeing this released anytime in August. Not that I wouldn't be elated, but the general release time for a DLC seems to take about a month longer than planned. Anyways, I think I'll go play some Oblivion while I wait.

It was planned to be released in July, thus august would be a month longer then planned.

There is quite a lot of information hear. Like what is this signature weapon I wonder. And ED-E gets upgrades, this might make him a much more atracted companion. More example i only have ed-e because you can see enemys better not for combat.

I'd thought the original release for LR had been August, so a delay would have landed us in September sometime. If it was originally intended to be a July release, and delayed a month, I'm a little suprised that there hasn't been a announcement of the date to ease tensions.
Still, I'd rather assume a late release and be pleasantly suprised than acknowledge the lateness and become annoyed about failed promises. It's just my glass half full attempt.

I doubt you can take Ed-e with you, the upgrades are probably just Holotapes you give to Ed-E. Why would we not be able to take companions with us in the the other three DLC's but the one titled "Lonesome Road" (emphasis on the Lonesome) is companion-friendly. No, I'm betting Ed-e sticks in the Mojave.

No the original release was OWB in June and LR in July. OWB was pushed back to July ergo that pushed back the LR to august. I recall a developer saying the release date was planned for august. The fact the achivements are uploaded is evidence there preparing for the release this month.

Well the achivement is called the rockets red glare. So it sounds like an explosive weapon.

Josh Sawyer said both that the Courier does not have amnesia and that the Courier's backstory doesn't matter. However, Chris Avellone is the one who is in charge of Lonesome Road and Josh Sawyer has nothing to do with it. So it's possible that Chris Avellone changed the storyline with Ulysses that drastically after Josh Sawyer said both of those things. Even then, memory loss would be annoying especially when you can recall Benny and the Khans after being shot and you can also mention you've been to Utah, New Reno, and Montana.

LR was only delayed because OWB was delayed, otherwise it would be on time.

Or you know, a new laser weapon. :P Either are highly likely.
