How is this going to work are we going to bring him with us to the Divide or find something at the Divideand bring it back?

Probably the same thing as with Veronica, we find Holotapes, and bring them back to upgrade ED-E.

Find something in the the Divide and bring it back. Most likely a holotape or some scrap parts or something.

This is the most likely reason, although it may be possible to bring him with you. As far as I'm aware there's no technical reason why companies couldn't come with you in a DLC, but I may be wrong about that.

There's supposed to be a "Doctor Whitely" in Lonesome Road. Who we can assume is probably the same Whitely that created ED-E. He'll probably have something to do with the upgrades.

I hope we can't take anyone with us to DLCs. If we can, there'll probably be a multitude of people asking "If we can take ED-E, why can't we take XX?"

It should be something we take back to ED-E, like Elijah's tape!

I honestly don't think that you can take companions with you.
That'd wouldn't be fair, kind of.
That would ruin the name, Lonesome Road.
That would not be reasonable. No Fallout DLC lets you take companions with you, ever.

How though? The Veronica thing was only possible because they planned wayyy ahead for it.

Unless they were really cutty and also did the same for ED-E......................

Well ED-E could be an integral part of the events surrounding LR we still don't know what its true purpose was, simply retaining the dura frame designs doesn't seem important enough to send it across the wastes using resources along the way I think its more likely ED-E was carrying vital information to the Navaro base about the divide or something connected to LR, otherwise just running across upgrades or its creator in LR seems like a strech if theres no good raisin.

That's what I was wondering, they either planned it from the start, or figured out a way to make the DLC interact with the vanilla game.

I think it will be like Dead Money, you get the upgrades and once you get out of the Divide you give them to E-DE.

Sounds like Enclave may be in this dlc to some degree then. The old world sleeps there....
