As long lasting as GTA?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 6:53 pm

GTA 4 had a fun single player, but limited replayability and open world stuff to do (for me). Same with RDR. I usually ended up just going on killing sprees until i got bored. GTA 4 has a great multiplayer though, I do enjoy it.

Oblivion has sank more hours than any other game I've played though--most of that time has been exploring and taking in every square inch of the world...I have not actually done that, even...after 250 plus hours or more, probably. That's why I'm so thrilled about Skyrim and all the realism theyre putting into the world.

Being able to find nothing to do after playing it after countless hours isn't some big flaw in a game you know.
Think that was his point.

I got tired of GTA4 before I even finished the main story, although I do go back and play it now and again. I'm still playing Oblivion.

Elder Scrolls games are GTA with swords and magic. That's what svcked me in initially.

Want to go on a killing spree? I don't need no stinkin' rocket launcher!

My point? They're both equal in terms of stuff you can do, just different genres.

Are we even playing the same game. I could play Oblivion for countless hours and it never gets old, Skyrim should be no different.

Yea I love the GTA series but I definitely enjoy TES series more. I also clocked in more hours in Oblivion than GTA IV, although I have put in a lot of hours in San Andreas.

Oblivion is only number three. WTF?!! Morrowind isn't even in the Top Ten (that's all I checked)

This site is obviously paid off by someone... >.>

As are all gaming sites (Morrowind is like no.27 or something).
This top 100 has to be getting paid off by Eidos though, seeing as how Deus Ex has been no.1 for like 5 years straight or something (don't get me wrong it's a good game but yeah).

I think Yahtzee is probably the only reviewer who does not go after massive titles and makes them out to be the best thing since sliced bread (also known as the Halo 3 game ratings system).

GTA doesn't have a fraction of the depth of TES or Fallout 3. Maybe if I was knocked senseless with the broad side of a shovel, I could compare the two games...

Bethesda doesn't need to be taking lessons from Rockstar, trust me.

Kinda funny that you mention it, since they are at least looking at the horses for inspiration.

I never even finished GTA 4 once, but I have played through Oblivion countless times and I am still playing it to this day, I played for around 4-5 hours today.

For some reason I thought that OP wrote that instead of someone else being sarcastic.

True.
Critics and reviews saying that Avatar is the best movie of all time is a proof of that.

Hey I liked that movie. I didn't love it, but It was pleasing to the eyes and ears.

Now for the OP, I played a little of GTA 4 and I couldn't get into it.

Another overrated game is Dead Space 2, but then again EA has its stamp on it.

I love both games but since the elder scrolls is an RPG series your bound to play it different every time getting a lot more variety and more hours but it really depends on what games your into hell I use to hate RPG's till I played oblivion now I love them

Thats what I was getting at. Except DA: 2 is actually good as a game, not as a sequel. Dead Space 2 is just not good.

Oblivion keeps you engaged for a few hours at most, which is more time than I usually have...but after a while it can get boresome.

GTA 4 however is the only game in the world that I feel you could play for very long without getting bored, there's just so much fun to beating random people and shoving them and taking stuff.

GTA 4 got 10/10 on IGN...so getting to the point: GTA is more entertaining than Oblivion.

Do you think Skyrim will get 10/10 and be as good as GTA? i love TES, but recently i started gta 4 and i like it slightly more, which is why i am asking.

You dare say the infamous Rockstar makes better games than the legendary Bethesda Game Studios????? How far we have fallen...

First of all, player experience is solely subjective and different for everyone. Just because you didn't enjoy playing Oblivion as long as GTA 4 doesn't mean GTA 4 is better.

Secondly, I didn't realize spending hours beating random people, shoving them, and taking stuff was so much fun and time consuming... Oblivion can offer so much more.

Game reviews are completely irrelevant, as I truly believe these gaming websites are paid by developers/publishers to give high ratings to their games. Even still, everyone has their preference, and I personally don't like the GTA series. I did enjoy Red Dead Redemption though, but mainly because it overall was just more original and actually had substance, unlike many of the GTA games in my opinion.

Whatever rating Skyrim is relevant as I stated above. Everyone has their preference, and ultimately I believe Skyrim will offer a much more fulfilling experience.

I didn't say anything specially bad about it (even though I could :P), but the point is that it's not nearly good as it was advertised to be.
Actually, it's already falling into the oblivion.

there are only two games out there that I've really gotten lost in, and played for days and days. TES: Morrowind and GTA: San Andreas. Therefore I declare this GTA4 vs. Oblivion argument to be completely invalid, neither game is very good.

I feel the complete opposite GTA is nice mindless entertainment which is only fun for a couple of hours at most but I find Elders Scrolls games immerse me so well I don't even realize how much time has passed..

As long lasting as GTA?

For me that would only be about 10 hours of gameplay. I just couldn't ever really get into GTA:4 very much. The story was good, and causing caos in the street was good for a few mins of fun, but I just grew tired of it really quickly.

GTA 4? I've only played through the storyline once, and by the time I had finished it, I was extremely bored with the game. San Andreas, now that game I could play for hours. But not GTA 4.

And Oblivion has had me occupied for hours upon hours. How can you say that Oblivion gets boring? There's always something to do, something new to discover.
