As long lasting as GTA?

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 12:07 am

Oblivion keeps you engaged for a few hours at most, which is more time than I usually have...but after a while it can get boresome.

GTA 4 however is the only game in the world that I feel you could play for very long without getting bored, there's just so much fun to beating random people and shoving them and taking stuff.

GTA 4 got 10/10 on IGN...so getting to the point: GTA is more entertaining than Oblivion.

Do you think Skyrim will get 10/10 and be as good as GTA? i love TES, but recently i started gta 4 and i like it slightly more, which is why i am asking.

Are we even playing the same game. I could play Oblivion for countless hours and it never gets old, Skyrim should be no different.

Eh, GTA may be more fun in your eyes. But not to everyone. And, ratings don't mean much to me. Most of the reviewers don't play RPG's for what that should IMO.

IGN gave it a 10/10. Great for them. I respect their opinion.

You feel GTA4 is more entertaining. I also respect your opinion.

So I ask that you respect my opinion when I disagree in every way shape and form.

You ask this in a TES fan forum... you'll probably get a bunch of people who still play both Morrowind and Oblivion and have spent only a couple of hours playing GTA (comparatively speaking). I think you'd be better off asking something less obviously weighted in favor of TES.

That is some pretty terrible logic. IGN and any other official game review site shouldn't be trusted. Plus, no game deserves a 10/10. NO game is perfect.

Also, Oblivion easily kept me entertained for well over 12 hours straight the first time I played it. My first character had over 300 hours on him. If you can't get lost in an elder scrolls game, there is no hope for you friend.

That's really subjective. My nephew can play Lego Pirates for hours/days on end, but I don't automatically think that Lego Pirates is more entertaining than Oblivion, which I only play for a few hours when I have the time. I'm sure he likes his game better than my game, but I like my game better than his game. I find your personal opinion about a "better game" to be questionable -- especially since I, personally, hate the GTA games.

(Really, posting that X game is more fun than a TES game in a TES forum is just silly.)

Actually they changed the title from perfect to prime. Meaning that even if a game had some faulty glitches, or one tiny fault here and there that dosent stop it from having a 10.

There are few games that do deserve 10, but its not like a 10/10 is impossible.

Second. GTA4 was probably the worst GTA to date as well (imo). I would rather spend time playing Saints Row 2 any day of the week at least that is actually fun.

10/10 to me just seems like a game has no flaws and there is nothing wrong with it, which will probably never be true. If I see a game get a 10/10, I immediately call BS. It may not mean "perfect" but there are probably some shady dealings going on to make a 10.

I''m sorry, but 99% of all reviews are paid off.

One review commented on DA:2 saying that's it's "The RPG of the Decade!"
Not to mention all of these other reviewers giving it 9/10 and such.

Uhh...I'll just try to ignore Bioware's forums with everyone complaining on how TERRIBLE that game is.

So yeah, reviews/ratings don't mean much these days.

As for your OP, everyone has an opinion. Simple concept!

GTA4 wasn't as good as the previous titles. It gets boring from time to time in the world of GTA4 and pretty much I'm doing the same [censor] over and over and over again. I rather just pop in TES and play non-stop than playing a game like GTA4. Reviews from sites like IGN don't mean a thing to me, I only trust on my thought when I play a game and I say that GTA4 doesn't deserve a 10/10.

It's all a matter of taste. What GTA offers is a lot different than what TES:O offers.

My guess is that if you like what GTA offers better than what TES:O offers, you probably won't like what Skyrim will have to offer. And that's cool. Play whatever game you get the most enjoyment from, says I.

edit: Never, ever, ever go by ratings. Never. Never ever. You can't judge a game based on a number that somebody else thought it deserved.

They gave MW2 a 9.5 so I dont think IGN is a good website to trust.

Don't get me wrong, GTA 4 is a great game, I play it often. Yes, it's really fun and does keep me entertained, however, Oblivion is way better (in my opinion) when I first got Oblivion I swear I played it from when I got it (probably around 6, maybe 7 pm?) until at least 3 am. That's the closest I've been to pulling an all-nighter ever. (Except when I'm with friends or something, then I can pull it off)

GTA I played for an hour? Two hours maybe? I still play it pretty frequently, but Oblivion holds my attention better.

They're both fun. But, I could probably play GTA longer than Oblivion after I finish all of the missions/Main quest.
I don't necessarily think that GTA is better than Oblivion, it could just entertain ME longer.

My only problem with GTA4 was that I kept finding myself comparing it to San Andreas where you did all this crazy ass stuff like stealing a Jet and shooting up a dam with it. Now THAT was pure baddass-ism.
Some people liked that IV was a bit more realistic like that, but as for me, I don't play games for realism. Games shouldn't try be realistic, IMO. If I want to do something real, I'll go outside.

I don’t see why you would say that it was the worst GTA yet, I actually enjoyed it. If you would give some reasoning, I might see your side of things.

Oblivion is only number three. WTF?!! Morrowind isn't even in the Top Ten (that's all I checked)

This site is obviously paid off by someone... >.>

What review sites fail to account for is the lasting appeal. They can't judge if you'd want to replay the game at a later date. They only guess at it, because they have to have the review out right away.

True.
Critics and reviews saying that Avatar is the best movie of all time is a proof of that.

Being able to find nothing to do after playing it after countless hours isn't some big flaw in a game you know.
